73% Tomatometer 11 Reviews 71% Audience Score Fewer than 50 Ratings Set in the 1990s at the same William Penn Academy formerly attended by "The Goldbergs," "Schooled" follows Principal John Glascott as he leads a faculty of teachers with wildly different views on how to mentor students -- including graduate Lainey Lewis, coach Mellor and enthusiastic super-teacher Charlie Brown, or CB for short. Glascott's nurturing and communicative approach to caring for children is particularly at odds with coach Mellor's tough-guy belief that physical competition brings out the best in students. Critics Consensus

Schooled's freshman outing struggles to differentiate itself from its predecessor -- though its sweetly silly sensibilities and stellar cast may be enough for viewers looking for a good-natured sitcom.

Carla Meyer San Francisco Chronicle There is an overall sweetness to the pilot that suggests "Schooled" could become a good-natured ensemble workplace sitcom like "Parks & Recreation." But the cast needs filling out first. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Ed Bark Uncle Barky There's possibly some potential here. But the only episode of Schooled made available for review neither rings the bell -- or answers it. Rated: C Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Daniel D'Addario Variety "Schooled" may well relax as it goes on, but its first episode feels painfully strained, pushing us first to see Lainey as humorously unfit for her job and, within 20 minutes, perhaps better-suited than anyone could have predicted. Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba To be honest, I have come to prefer the '90s spin-off of The Goldbergs to The Goldbergs itself. It's family-oriented, and very much has the throwback feel of a '90s sitcom with valuable lessons learned in each episode. Rated: B- Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Vlada Gelman TV Line As for what the Goldbergs clan is up to in the future, we don't get a lot of hints. But a fun throwaway gag reveals that classmate Johnny Atkins is now the school janitor, which feels right. Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Marty Brown Common Sense Media 90s-set Goldbergs spin-off doesn't break much new ground. Rated: 3/5 Jan 15, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Has the same feel as the Goldbergs and brings me back to the 90's. Each episode has something in it that reminds me of my teens. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I LOOOVE this show it's funny and also has its learning moments just like the goldbergs Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Keeps you wanting more Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This show is really funny love it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this show! It gives you a real sense of nastgia for us who grew up in the 90s. I think its awesome that they decided to utilize Laney as the lead character, who was amazing on Goldbergs, she doing a terrific job keeping the show in the the rehlm of GOLDBERGS, while also making the show its own. Shes was always too strong to be a secondary character. Laneys relationships with Coach Meller, Chinas and the principle, played by an iconic Tim meadows, all comes together seemlessly to creat an awesome and comfortable network feel good and family friendly comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a fantastic show and very funny. This is one of my favorite new tv shows of 2019. The writing is great. The cast is terrific especially Aj Michalka, Bryan Callen, Tim Meadows, Brett Dier, Rachel Crow, Lennon Parham, and Christian Gehring. Even though it was a great show it got kind of repetitive after a while. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
