Factory reset blackberry after 2022 with active BB protect... - Page 2 - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

So, spent most of the day yesterday messing with this and have come to the conclusion that although the screen reader would come on nearly every time, it never read out the BB instructions. What it did do (but only a couple of times) was tell me it was anti-theft and to put my user/pass in. As the screen was in the background and I'm not great with BB, i was only guessing and stuffed it. I know my blackberry ID user/pass - and in fact, when I go to the BB website, it works fine - (although you can't do anything!!). So, did some more research and figured the only way into this was to reformat (guess that's not the correct term) the phone. Found a download that when you download, extract and run - then pull the battery from the BB , plug into PC and then put battery in, it will reload the software effectively removing my issue. Only thing is, was a tad violent removing back cover and trashed the battery strap ... no biggie as the battery looked like it was pregnant anyway - guess it was also going to need replacing - so that's where I'm up to. when new battery arrives, I'll try again.
If you can remove the battery, then you likely have a Q10, not a Classic. Classics didn’t have removable batteries. The “pregnant” battery was just a failure. The battery charged beyond capacity. They’re designed against this but it sometimes happens. My MacBook did this as I had it plugged in all the time and it could never discharge.

Try the recommended method to get to the screen reader and BBID. When it fails, pull the (working battery) and wait a minute. Then put the battery back in and try again. Might need this step a few times. Make sure it’s the latest autoloader.

so, new battery turned up and after another couple of hours - I"m still no further than before. The problem is that it was previously setup with my BB ID and anti-theft. I have my userid and pass, but of course as the server is no longer available, it can't validate (i assume?). I found an anti-theft OS to put on via autoloader - which installed, but it just hangs at the 'blackberry classic' screen - no matter how long I leave it. So, I downloaded the original OS for it , autoloaded it and it started up again, welcome screen, usual run though, but after about 20 attempts it reads out that anti-theft is enabled - enter user name etc... I can't actually see this screen, so just guessed my way though it - but of course, it does not work. This is just so annoying!!! Can anyone please recommend how I can get this bloody thing working again please?

    Using this Autoloader https://mega.nz/folder/ERomDKaT#YYXw.../file/NF5niboD

Follow the steps (carefully) in the first post https://forums.crackberry.com/showth...1#post13625326

May have to do it more than once.

If that doesn't work, you can try some of these additional steps: https://forums.crackberry.com/showth...1#post13675336

BB Protect on 10.3.2.xxxx firmware versions can be turned off by flashing 10.3.1.997
As a bonus you get (permanent?) possibility to skip initial setup.
