Badri Kvaratskhelia talks his son’s excellent start at Napoli - Football Italia

Badri Kvaratskhelia, the father of Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, discussed his son’s strong start at the club and his focus on the pitch.

The 21-year-old Georgian winger was signed by the Partenopei in the summer from Dinamo Batumi in a deal worth around €10m, a price that instantly looks like a bargain following his explosive start in Italy. Kvaratskhelia has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 15 matches across Serie A and the Champions League this season.

Speaking to Imedi TV, Badri Kvaratskhelia discussed his son Khvicha’s impressive start at Napoli and his relationship with coach Luciano Spalletti and the squad.

“When you are in the stands of the Napoli stadium and your surname is shouted by 60,000 fans, this feeling cannot be conveyed. Especially when it’s a footballer coming from the Georgian league. I was always convinced that Khvicha would do well from the start.

“He does not need an introduction or too many words, he has shown what he can do. There are no groups in the team, there is unity. You can feel a friendly attitude. Luciano Spalletti has a very good relationship with his players.

“Khvicha goes to training at 8am. Around 2pm he comes back and rests. He had a day off and we went for a walk in the city.”

He then commented on the possibility of Kvaratskhelia signing a new contract so soon after his arrival.

“Nobody has spoken to us about the contract yet. At this stage, Khvicha doesn’t even think about it, he only thinks about playing. Khvicha is informed about market rumours, but it doesn’t influence him at all.”

The 21-year-old Kvaratskhelia has been one of the surprises of the season and instantly looks to be one of the most talented forwards in Europe, skipping past players with ease and looking magical with the ball at his feet.
