Monday afternoon the USHL held Phase I of the 2024 Draft in which 2008 birth year players had the opportunity to be selected by one of 15 USHL organizations. Through the 10 round draft the Lumberjacks welcomed 13 new players to the Lumberjacks family.

Here is a breakdown of the Jacks' 13 Phase I selections.

ROUND: 1

PICK #: 13 (Tender)

PLAYER NAME: Rudolfs Berzkalns

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Bishop Kearney 15U AAA

HOMETOWN: Cesis, Latvia

The Lumberjacks announced Rudolfs Berzkalns as the 14th tender signing in team history back on November 20, 2023. A member of the Bishop Kearney Selects 15u AAA team "Rudy" recorded 63 points in 60 games.

PICK #: 21

PLAYER NAME: Nate Celski

POSITION: Defense

PREVIOUS: White Bear Lake High (USHS-MN)

HOMETOWN: Vadnais Heights, MN

With their first pick of the second round the Lumberjacks selected Nate Celski from White Bear Lake High in Minnesota. A big bodied defenseman Celski weighs in at 6 '3, 190 pounds on the blue line.

PICK #: 28 (Tender)

PLAYER NAME: Tynan Lawrence

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Shattuck St. Mary's 16U AAA

HOMETOWN: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

The Lumberjacks second round selection is another tender signing, the 15th in team history. Tynan Lawrence hails from Canada, but comes to Muskegon from Shattuck St. Mary's in Minnesota. A highly skilled forward Lawrence recorded 93 points in 56 14U AAA games and another 49 points in 50 16U AAA games.

PLAYER NAME: Noah Survilas

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Boston Jr. Eagles 15U/Dexter Southfield

HOMETOWN: Winthrop, MA

The Lumberjacks went to the Massachusetts prep school well in the third round by selecting Noah Survilas from the Dexter Southfield School. A point per game producer last season, Survilas brings high offensive power to Muskegon.

PICK #: 43

PLAYER NAME: Ryder Cali

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Markham Majors 16U AAA

HOMETOWN: Penetanguishene, ON, CAN

With their second pick of the third round the Lumberjacks went north of the border to Canada, and selected Ryder Cali from the Markham Majors. Cali has been turning heads this season with 30 points in 29 games while leading his team to a successful season.

PLAYER NAME: Lars Hutson

POSITION: Defense

PREVIOUS: Team Illinois 15U AAA

HOMETOWN: North Barrington, IL

The Jacks called a familiar name in the fifth round by selecting Lars Hutson, younger brother of former Lumberjack Quinn Hutson. The Hutson brothers are known for their shifty and skilled style of play, and Lars continues that tradition as a smooth skating defenseman.

PICK #: 92

PLAYER NAME: Will McLaughlin

POSITION: Defense

PREVIOUS: Little Caesars 15U AAA

HOMETOWN: Canmore, AB, CAN

The Lumberjacks selected dual citizen Will McLaughlin with the 92nd overall selection of the Phase I Draft. Younger brother of current Fargo Force forward Finn McLaughlin Will showcases his strong skating ability while patrolling the blue line.

PICK #: 102

PLAYER NAME: Roberts Naudins

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Thurgau U17

HOMETOWN: Riga, Latvia

For the second time of the Phase I Draft the Lumberjacks went overseas to Latvia. Roberts Naudins impressed this season playing at the U17 level with Thurgau. In 29 games Naudin recorded 51 total points.

PICK #: 103

PLAYER NAME: Keaton Martin

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Dallas Stars Elite 15U AAA

HOMETOWN: Dallas, TX

The Lumberjacks added a bonafide goal scorer in the seventh round by selecting Keaton Martin. In 53 15U AAA games this season with Dallas Martin scored 40 goals and added 42 assists for 82 total points

PICK #: 118

PLAYER NAME: Max Cullen

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: MN Blue Ox 15O AAA

HOMETOWN: Moorhead, MN

The Lumberjacks hit the State of Hockey in the 8th round and selected Max Cullen from the Minnesota Blue Ox 15O team. Through 18 games at the 15 pure level Cullen recorded 20 total points.

PICK #: 128

PLAYER NAME: Cole Anderson

POSITION: Defense

PREVIOUS: MN Walleye 15O AAA

HOMETOWN: Maple Grove, MN

The Lumberjacks added a mature defenseman in Cole Anderson during the 9th round. A point per game producer from the blue line, Anderson comes from Minnesota AAA hockey.

ROUND: 9

PICK #: 133

PLAYER NAME: Pavel Goryachev

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: MN Blue Ox 15O AAA

HOMETOWN: Moorhead, MN

With their second selection in the 9th round the Lumberjacks added another talented player from Minnesota in Pavel Goryachev. A high IQ player, Goryachev finds success at all 200 feet of the ice and moves well with his smooth skating.

PICK #: 148

PLAYER NAME: Kristian Reznicak

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: HK Poprad U18

HOMETOWN: Rotherham, GBR

With their final selection of the Phase I Draft the Lumberjacks called the name of Kristian Rezniak, a forward from Great Britain. Over the past few seasons Reznicak played in Slovakia with HK Poprad where he recorded 42 points in 38 U18 games this season.
