Don L This was a great movie. Very original, shot in Eastern Europe (Hungary) . The actors, the camera work, the direction, and the story are all superb. Why haven't I heard about this movie. I watched it on Netflix in Hungary because I recently moved here so was looking for Hungarian movies with English sub-titles to help me learn the language. This movie, literally, blew me away. Many unexpected, original, and very cruel scary scenes of the evil doings of poltergeist ghosts. The one thing I missed is the more realistic reactions of the main actors. In such circumstances they must have crapped their pants but most of the time they just look slightly scared of the truly evil and devilish happenings. Visual effects outshine the budget, while the actors are pretty good playing their characters especially Anna. Tomas should have been less fish blooded as truly ghastly things happen to them. The ending has a nice hollywood like twist that takes away from all the loathing. Good movie. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Ree R Thoughtful cinematography lends to the cold and barren landscape, illustrating just how isolated the villagers were (there's a scene shot in winter of a stark white church silhouetted against the heavy, night sky which is truly chilling). The special effects were not perfect, but this added to the creep factor and sometimes less is more. It reminds me of "A Dark Song" which despite a small budget, also gave me a satisfying scare. Rated 2.5/5 Stars •  Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review prawnda s film, set, and costume quality are all quite good. otherwise: the dubs are pretty bad, the script doesn't always seem to properly translate to english, there is little to no scary content in favor of a lot of sort of dark/ominous shots of people awkwardly posing pretending to be dead but visibly moving by accident. some of the special effects re: the ghosts are alright, and a lot of the practical effects used to make corpses or wounds on peoples faces were pretty good, but there just wasn't any real tension or any real stakes or connection to the cast. it's just a lot of the protagonist running into a room to find some contorted and/or dead people over and over, and doesn't come to much fruition nor does it have anything interesting to say.
