About the College

Clare Hall was established in 1966 and is now one of the 31 colleges in the University of Cambridge, providing an academic home for around 200 students, some 60 Fellows, a large number of visiting academics and 67 staff.

Our membership is distinctively international, ethnically diverse, and actively promotes the inclusion of families. Together with its egalitarian ethos, this helps to create a highly productive and enjoyable working environment. Clare Hall sits in peaceful surroundings to the west of the Backs, along the south side of Herschel Road.

Gardener
37.5 hrs per week, Commencing pay £25,516 per annum (£13.09 per hour)

Clare Hall, a college for advanced study in the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a
Gardener responsible for maintaining College grounds to the highest standards.

With experience in, and a real passion for, gardening, you will carry out a variety of gardening and
horticultural tasks. Under guidance from the Head Gardener you will be responsible for, among
other duties, trimming, pruning, planting and cultivating plants as well as lawn mowing and leaf
clearing. You will ideally have previous experience of operating garden machinery, experience of
record keeping and basic IT skills. In addition, you will assist in the daily checking of the College
indoor swimming pool (training will be provided).

Working in a small team, you will be flexible, enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn. You will
have high standards and attention to detail and be prepared to complete a variety of tasks across
the gardens and grounds. By its nature, this is a physical role, taking place largely outdoors.
Due to the requirements of the swimming pool facility, the working hours will be 7.00am to
3.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 7.00am to 12.30 on Friday. Some overtime and weekend
working may be required.
