Is the Harry Potter Concert Series worth it ?

Discussion

For those of you that have been to the Harry Potter Concert series in theater, do you think it's worth the ticket price? I was planning to buy tickets and go with my girlfriend but the tickets are a bit pricey and I'm not sure if it will be worth a 200$ investment.

Expensive but a lot of fun

Could you tell me a bit more about it ? Is it just a musical orchestra while the movie is playing on a big screen ?

Yup!

Pretty much.

Would floor seats be better or 200 level?

We were on balcony seats ourselves

I enjoyed it... but I wouldn’t say it was worth the ticket. The music didn’t sound much better live, and there were soooo many people that wanted to cheer/jeer/boo in excess.

It probably depends on the crowd any given showing, some are probably more well behaved- I think one group in the audience was just determined to rally everyone in an uproar when anything the least bit exciting happened

Thanks! Considering the tickets are a bit pricey I might skip out on it then!

i just went to the prisoner of azkaban concert in london and i thought it was great fun. i got one of the cheaper tickets, i think it was around 40 pounds, so the seat wasn't the best. but i felt like it was different than going to a, idk, pop concert or play, i didn't feel like i need to be super close to the stage or see everything clearly. i just needed to see okay, and the music was what made it really worth it, so imo the most important thing is how suited the venue is for an orchestra performance. i was also at a show where the audience was quite enthusiastic, like they would clap or cheer at certain points in the movie, and it was cool to be there in that moment that i was sharing this experience with all these other people who loved hp.

I’m in the US, tickets will be about 80$ which I feel like is a bit hefty considering I could watch the movie at home for free

yeah... i think all things considered its definitely pricey. i consider myself quite a big fan of the hp series, and i only got the cheapest (if not second cheapest) ticket. i dont think i would have considered any of the more expensive tickets to be worth the experience.

My wife and I went to the Sorcerer's Stone concert last year and definitely did not think it was worth it. You essentially pay hundreds of dollars to watch the movie with a live score. In our theater the orchestra was in the dark so you couldn't even see them.

Thanks for the advice!

I saw it and would not go again. I enjoyed it, but the theatre wasnt cozy enough for a movie. It took away from the experience. If they would allow a blanket and pillow i’d go again.

Also I didnt know whether to focus on the movie or the orchestra. I wanted to look at the orchestra but the movie sucked me in. LOL.

That makes sense, I’ll save my money!

Not worth it IMO. However, if you get a chance to see any of the LoTR film concerts, you should definitely go. Those are amazing, largely due to the grander scores and the addition of choirs on stage.

Sounds good, thanks!
