However, the downside of the app is also very obvious; it cannot search for a certain word like a dictionary. The only function of the search bar in the app is to show the content of that page. You'll need to have the book on hand in order to find the right page. Hope they can update the app for a better reading experience.
Pros: So much information. Literally everything is labeled.
Cons: Tiny print. Maybe size 8-10 font which is not a huge deal in some language, but it makes it very hard to see the tone accents with this very small font.
Additionally, the size of the type used in the book is too small. It's very hard to make out he "tone symbols" above the words.
Short of these two flaws, the book is an outstanding product. Just make the book a little larger to read more clearly, and provide a download site of the audio files to that the speaking portion of the book can be used by Chinese citizens.

This subject-based way of searching, with words randomly scattered all over the pages is not a very efficient way to find words. And the indexes, instead of just telling you the translation of a word, it tells you the page that you have to find, and then search the page to find the word you are looking for. And sometimes it's multiple pages if the word is referenced multiple times, or may be a different word with the same sound, so you have to laboriously check them all. And of course each word has only ONE translation, and no more information than that. It's pretty useless, especially when that translation is different to what you've already learned, so you're just confused, and you can't even trust any of the translations because they're just not detailed enough, and they contradict information from other books!
In summary, get a PROPER bilingual lexicon, that has ALL the most COMMON words, with proper definitions which actually help you understand what the words mean and how they are correctly used!
It doesn't have any Chinese food, any Chinese festival whatsoever, "chopsticks", nothing about the Chinese currency... Honestly, this is a shame and a lost opportunity. You'll also not know what Santa Claus is called in Chinese.
Important: it does NOT have the measure words/classifiers.
Strangely does not contain the word "air", "fire", "dirt", etc. It has many complex words, but lacks a bunch of simple ones.
A few of the words that are missing come along with other words, like "air filter", but there's no photo or word for "air". The word "Pollution" and most environmental friendly words are also missing, like solar energy and wind power.
I've also noticed that it also doesn't have modern words like "Uber", "Google", "McDonald's", "SIM card", "selfie", etc. It may have a whole section about computers, but no "to go online", "to click". I've seen another picture dictionary that has them and it's a much simpler dictionary.
Surprisingly, it doesn't even have a section for the foreign languages, so you won't know what any language is called. There's a section of animals, but no "dinosaur". It's really strange.
In addition, I think it has too many words of different sports. They're too detailed. The space and size of the photos could've been used to put more important words.
I saw some repeated words, like "glove" and "pâté".
There's many foods, even ones that I don't know, but there's no "donuts" or "pancake". I could go on and on.
If you want a small visual dictionary (yes, it's small like people have been saying it is, but personally it's not way too small for me) that has most words you may need, buy it.
I think whoever made this was lazy because they didn't want to dedicate 5-10 pages to Chinese culture, which is a shame. I could've bought another dictionary, but this one is small, which is good for what I wanted to use it for.
I just don't like that other dictionaries have everything that this one is lacking.
There's always a trade off, though. I chose to write the missing words in flash cards and put them in the dictionary. I suggest that you get the PDF of the first edition of this book, that you can easily find online for free, and see if words available are enough for you. I don't think there's much of a difference between the first and second edition. It think they basically just added modern objects and got rid of the old ones.
