List of all the most important episodes?
I’ve never went back and re watched this series. I kind of want to but I don’t want to read watch the whole series. Wondering if anyone has compiled a list of all the best/most important episodes. Obviously all the ones dealing with the mythology of the series but even just the really good ones. Thanks in advance!
Honestly, I wouldn't want to be the person compiling that list. Because every episode is important and tells something about the past in its own way. But if you want just to get a glimpse of the important things, I recommend you watch "Luther Braxton: Conclusion", "Cape May", "Requiem", "Rassvet", "Orion Relocation Services", "Katarina Rostova: Conclusion", "Ivan Stepanov".
Thank you!
this plus any episode with Dom
That’s a hard question to answer. IMO...seasons 1-4 is the best overall, then like Ligma, and Old school said, there’s many more that are just great episodes watch. This season,IMO , has been the best since the early seasons I have seen since.
From an earlier post.
This is a tough question but I have tried to cull it down for myself so here's what I've come up with.
Pilot
The Freelancer
The Stewmaker
Frederick Barnes
Anslo Garrick 1 & 2
Madeline Pratt
The Naomi Episodes S2 E1-4 (S2 E5, The Front is a good one to watch, too)
The Decembrist
Luther Braxton 1 & 2
Leonard Caul
The Troll Farmer (plus, Marvin Gerard)
The Director 1 & 2
Mr. Solomon 1 & 2
Cape May
The Artax Network
Requiem
Dr. Bogdan Krilov
Ian Garvey 1 & 2
Sutton Ross
Rassvet
Katerina Rostova 1 & 2
Elizabeth Keen
Rakitin
Misère
Closer to 30 episode (sorry!) but I think these offer a good combination of plot, character and mythology. Maybe other people have thoughts on the list or ways to shorten it, but this is the list I intend to re-watch (when I have a chance!). Happy Viewing.
Edited: strike Misère from the list
Appreciate it!
I would add Kuwait because it explains how little Cooper really knew the real Raymond Reddington and Red confirmed he was an imploster.
I would add Adrian Shaw Pt 2 for key Red and Kirk showdown.
I like Kuwait, too, so I might rewatch that one. I was just trying to narrow the episodes to a smallish list!
30 episodes is a smallish list for binging.
Depends on the binger 😉 I’d love to get it down to twelve, and I think the original request (to which this was a response) was for a list of 10 or 15 episodes? Not sure, it was a month or so ago. Now I might add Anne as well as the last episode so...it’s like TBL, in progress.
I have not seen anything that I would consider to be definitive, and there will be a huge amount of disagreement about what is "important" in the big picture. I think you could make the argument that 80% of Season 4, 5, 6 and 7 is not of any lasting significance. That it's just kicking the can down the road. Some of that "kicking" involves really good episodes. "Greyson Blaise" is a great example. Super episode. Zero lasting significance. So, do you want that included (under "best") or excluded (because it has no lasting plot significance)?
At the outset, you have to decide whether you’re trying to rewatch the story arc of the show, or just revisit the major stops along the way. Here’s a very rough cut of what I would put on my rewatch list:
Season 1: Ep. 1-2, 7-10, 16-19, 21-22 [total - 12]
S2: Ep. 1-4, 6-10, 18-22 [14]
S3: Ep. 1-2, 7-10, 15-20, 22-23 [14]
That’s about 60% of the first three seasons. Which I think are the best episodes, and the most important to understanding the long term plot. After that, the “kick the can down the road” game starts, with a lot of wasted time.
S4: Ep. 1-3, 7-8, 17-18, 21-22 [9]
S5: Ep. 1-2, 7-8, 14, 18-19, 22 [8]
S6: Ep. 1-2, 9, 19 [4]
S7: Ep. 1-2, 9-10 [4]
I’ll omit Season 8 because it’s current. My list has 65 episodes out of 152 total in S1-7. That’s not a huge distillation (roughly 40% of all episodes).
If I was rewatching purely to refresh my recollection of the “mythology,” I would suggest the following:
The Pilot, the house scene at the end of Frederick Barnes, the ballet scenes from Mako Tanida, all the scenes with Naomi from S2:1-4, Luther Braxton (1&2), Leonard Caul, the scene from Quon Zang where Red talks about the photo of Liz, Cape May, Artax Network, Adrian Shaw Conclusion, Requiem, Minister D, Louis Steinhil (1&2), Orion Relocation.
That’s 12 episodes, plus about 8 scenes from other episodes. Again, not counting Season 8, because it’s current.
I don’t mind the episode not having any impact on the overall story if it’s a really good episode
Season 1-4 you just watch every Episode yes there are some fillers but you can still enjoy them because of reddington you can start skipping Episodes from season 5
