Beautiful architecture, has the largest indoor Buddha in the western hemisphere - 37 feet tall 😳 It is a wonderful place to visit with walking paths around the grounds to explore

- ElfmaGreenwich, CT688 contributions...as I usually did buzzing down the Taconic. 14,000 acres. Several lakes here, we were on Canopus Lake and rented a kayak for a modest fee adjacent to a sandy beach with shaded picnic areas. Restrooms, changing areas and a food kiosk all an easy walk. ADA accessible. Fee for entry, check the website.Written 15 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dearsirsamElmont, NY37 contributionsDecided to break up my drive from Poughkeepsie area to Long Island with a hike to stretch my legs. Basic parking lot with a map and printed maps to take along. Map was pretty accurate (doesn't show elevation change, but that's fine). There were some uphill and downhill sections, but nothing killer. Definitely worth wearing the hiking boots, as plenty of rocks in/near the trails. Trails were clear, well-marked and well-maintained. I did a counter clockwise loop, up to the lake, around, and back. I did seem to miss one intersection, and went a bit further to the small pond before getting back on track, but nothing drastic. Critterwise I didn't see too much: a few birds and frogs and chipmunks, and a couple of splashes in the lake of something larger, turtle maybe? Nice trees, some cool mushrooms. Ran into maybe a dozen people (plus a few dogs), so generally a nice quiet hike. Really enjoyed it.Written 16 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- dlmsigh7 contributionsThis park is beautiful. There is a small beach with a lifeguard. Plenty of room to run, bike, drone. Lots of kid park equipment and even some healthy park equipment stuff for adults. There are also hiking trails. Picnic tables.

We have seen award-winning visual artists, storytellers, and musicians of every genre.
In addition, there are ongoing classes in art, music, writing, acting, and even exercise.
The center is located right on Route 52 in a repurposed firehouse overlooking scenic Lake Carmel, and it is only a few minutes away from I-84 near the borders of Putnam and Dutchess County in New York.

The grounds are gorgeous and we found the staff very attentive. We had some time before the reception, and we had a late lunch in the clubhouse (a mediterranean chicken sandwich and some fries) which was very good. During the reception there was a nice spread of fruit/cheese/veggies/meat along with waitstaff bringing some warm appetizers during the outdoor cocktail hour.
The building that the reception was in wasn't fancy or particularly large, but it was cozy and the windows gave a great view.Written 20 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is maintained by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.
You can find directions and a detailed description of the hike for free on the Trail Conference website; Google Catfish Loop Trail.
This is one of my favorite winter hikes if the snow isn't too deep. The views are splendid, and much more impressive in the winter or early spring because the leaves are mostly gone. On my January hike I was especially impressed with the Storm King Mountain view, at about the half way point, where I stopped for some lentil soup and hot chocolate.

Ordered six dinners...each of our guests including a couple who moved from Ireland to Putnam County didn't stop raving about the wonderful meal.

I didn’t know where to go to get help, as I was there for another day. I went to one massage location, but let’s just say it wasn’t what I was looking for 😬. I then saw Hallelujah Foot and Spa on Yelp. I called and told them what had happened. They had me come right over and dealt with my back pain professionally and in a very caring way. I could not have imagined a better outcome or treatment. You will not be disappointed by this place. I HIGHLY recommend it.Written 29 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
