i can make any toon except a allied race. when i try to make allied races it says

“You already have the maximum number of characters allowed on this account”

i have deleted both reg and allied race toons but still get this error. i have tried this on my 2 main realms and a empty realm also.

again i can make any regular toon no prob so i know for 100% this is a allied race thing and not a toon cap thing. i have had all allied races unlocked since near the start of bfa so these are not recent unlocks either.

i thought this was same problem for everyone but in trade chat when i asked most others said they had no problem at all making allied races. my friend also has no problem making toons for the allied races he unlocked after patch

I would count up how many characters you actually have - the cap is 50. Also I’d make sure to login to each server you have characters on as I’ve seen some reports of servers showing you having more than you actually do, and logging into them will make the count correct.

i can make regular toons. i only get this error trying to make allied races. its not a actual have max toons problem because i have no problem making non allied races.

It looks like you are currently at 42, Nightport, so you should be able to create more characters.

I’m not sure if it will help, but try resetting your password, it might help refresh the account status.

just changed password and the problem persists :frowning: ty for the help Vrakthris  been saving my last spots specifically for certain allied race class combos i want to make

I’ll poke around and see if there are any known issues. I’ll update the thread if I find anything.

i was busy earlier but when i finally had time i logged into all my toons and deleted the rest of my name placeholder toons and others i didn’t start leveling yet but i still get same error trying to make allied race toons only. i can still make reg toons.

off to bed for now though. not sure what else to try except for a full reinstall of the game which i will do in morning even though i don’t think that will fix it as this is a pretty fresh instal anyways considering this is a new pc build(last month).

either or i want to move my WoW back to ssd anyways. it was on ssd at start of this new build but that gave me alot of problems so i moved it to reg drive a couple days into new build via copy paste so mabey that caused some weird error.

will update wether that works or not in morning. thanks again for the help. after years of being alone in this game i finally have friends to play with and want to level a void elf priest with them  among others

uninstalled everything to do with wow and battle net and reinstalled it all on the ssd. still have the same error when trying to make allied race toons only. can still make reg toons. 100% fresh instal on new HD and no addons or anything added

Have you made a non-allied race character recently, Nightport? Like, created and logged it into the game?

I’m not sure if that will help, but it might be worth trying. If it doesn’t work, please let me know. If it does, try creating an allied race after.

the last allied races i made was when vulpera and mechagon races was released. i unlocked them that day and made them.

i did today login to a vulpera and a highmountain toon that i made back then but never logged into. don’t know if that counts. they put me in their starter scenario type starts(org and thunder totem).

i was saving my last slots incase there was more allied races to come but now i have friends to play with and hearing great things about shadowlands spriests so tried to make a void elf priest to level with my friends so i have no idea if this problem was before or after last patch.

Can you please try creating a new non-allied race character and log it in? I want to confirm that the system allows you to.

Once you create that character try creating an Allied Race character and log it in. You may delete either or both after, this is just a test.

ohhhh apparently i can not make a reg toon either. thought i could cause it lets me pick exiles reach or skip so i never actually hit confirm before. at least now i know its not just allied races.

sorry for late response just finished watching new star trek

edit: could it mabey be counting toons from my abandoned accounts then? i know i have 5 or 6 toons on 1 of those.

edit again: errr wait my 2nd (not abandoned but inactive) account has a ton of toons. accounts 3 and 4 are very abandoned though

It shouldn’t, no. The 50 character cap should be per WoW license.

Out of curiosity, Nightport, did you try the steps in this article yet?

https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/000011685

i found the problem. apparently old realms that no longer had toons on them still claimed they had toons by number only so i went into all those realms and it reset them to 0. now i can make toons

sorry for wasting your time :frowning: the help was very appreciated though

The confusion is understandable, Nightport, it’s not really working the way it should. Glad you were able to get the issue resolved.
