Gerard Damiano's For Richer for Poorer is two films trying to be one. It is simultaneously the realistic and often quite moving drama of Gina (Georgina Spelvin) trying to heal herself after her husband Ben (Robert Kerman) leaves her for a younger woman (Susan McBain), and also an extended dream (nightmare?) sequence in which Gina sees herself as a glammed-up version of herself who takes charge in the bedroom in ways she never has in waking life.
Personally, I preferred the non-sexual scenes far more than Gina's imagined descent into a carnal abyss, which were genre-mandated filler rather than opportunities for character development. Trust me, trips to the OB-GYN are not sexy and I can almost guarantee that only a…

Every once in a while when you come across a porno that does the non-pornographic parts really well, it raises the question: would this be better if it weren’t a porno at all?
