Good to know that it is not just a hacked webforward to get our credentials as the rebranding seems not to remember our login states.
This is going to happen pretty often though, since ISPs and DMCA issues are common for anime websites. I've seen some places rebranded 3 times in a year. I personally don't care what its called, all I know is that OG 9anime was the best place to get anime.

I just use a strict pop up blocker and it works like a dream! Absolutely fantastic, never have to worry about pop ups ever again.
Prefer the 9anime logo over the aniwave logo so I hope they revert the changes or keep the alternative URLs as 9anime

it was a redesign attempt. People raged so hard about it being green instead of purple that 9anime changed it to what we have now.

they should have had some kind of notifications saying they are going to do this. well im just relieved i thought i had some kind of hack in my pc that forces me to redirect to a malware infected clone site is how i felt and with some extremely high level of googling skills ended up here.
I doubt the hack would've been put onto YOUR pc, and then to specifically redirect you from a Pirate anime site to another Pirate anime site just to get your credentials.
But I also checked the reddit to see what's up with the new name, so you're not alone in that for sure.
But a lot of sites have some different name for the actual host of content as to avoid some legalies or make it more difficult to be taken down.

Always keep a local copy of any and all important data. The internet is not reliable and things can easily be lost, unlike the common saying that nothing ever disappears from the internet. It does disappear, quite often.
Yup. This is why i refuse to make a MyAnimeList account - just got myself an Excel spreadsheet where i note the anime, if i've seen it and if i would rewatch or recommend to someone (or if i never want to see anything about it ever again it was that bad lol).

Aniwave's ads are immensely worse than 9anime. I used to have to deal with 3 at most, but now I have to close 7 on average. It's getting adblocked by me at this point. Some ads even crash the browser.
Why were you not using an ad blocker in the first place?

First Kissanime back in 2020 now 9anime. Basically both anime websites that made my anime life now gone. At least Aniwave is still the same as 9anime. But the name 9anime will be missed.

AniWave is more catchy name imo
Yeah i do prefer the name but the logo's terrible. The purple play button would have worked for any new name - i don't get why they felt the need to change it too.
Aniwave stopped working today so I went back to 9anime and it’s 99% less ads.

Most popup and redirect advertisements originate from the Video servers instead of 9Anime, as a result the 9Anime team is unable to remove or modify said advertisements as much as they wish they could. The only solution is to use an adblocker, preferably one that has been configured to not entirely break the site itself.
