Autobiography of Jefferson Davis [1890] Kindle Edition

An abbreviated autobiography by the Ex-President of the Southern Confederacy published a month after his death in "Belford's Magazine". The years before & after the War Between the States are the focus of this brief account of his life. A detailed chronological outline of the life of Mr. Davis precedes the autobiography. Each section has been extracted from "Jefferson Davis Constitutionalist: His Letters, Papers and Speeches," Vol. 1, Compiled and Edited by Dunbar Rowland, 1923.

A man of few words and much humility who gave his all for what he believed in even at tremendous personal sacrifice, a real patriot in the finest sense of the word.

This is the first book I have read about Jeff Davis so I can't compare it to be fact. I will read more to get a better understanding of History.

In his own words, brief, but enlightening. Mr. Davis did not seek Union dissolution. Quite the opposite. But he was a defender of States rights under the Constitution.

More like a resume. I am reading Rise and Fall of the Confederacy he is a much better writer in it. Apparently like many of us has trouble blowing his own horn.

This book is not worth the money or the time to read it. As usual Davis acts the "victim" Nothing was his fault. It also has very little on his life and is quite "dry"

Very abridged. Wonder if the print version is so short. I solutions more about the author from his own words but may try another's biography on him.
