Miranda Lambert Returns To Her Roots With Fiery New Single, ‘Wranglers’

Miranda Lambert is getting back to her roots with the release of her highly anticipated new single, “Wranglers.”

What Is The Song About?

Out now, the song fits perfectly within the superstar’s wheelhouse among tracks like the fiery “Kerosene” and revengeful “Gunpowder & Lead” as it tells the story of a woman who has been mistreated in a relationship by a man with a “wandering eye.” Finally reaching her breaking point, the woman decides to take matters into her own hands and burn down anything and everything she can get her hands on. During this process, she set his belongings ablaze, including his Wrangler jeans. 

“If he ever loved her, he never let it show/ If she didn’t need him, she’d a left him long ago/ She set it all on fire and if there’s one thing that she learned/ Wranglers takе forever to burn,” Lambert sings on the chorus.

“I am so proud to sing this song,” Lambert says. “It feels like it could have been on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’ in a lot of ways. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is a pretty powerful statement, and the way it’s written, you can tell, we’re not kidding.”

Who Wrote “Wranglers?”

While the Texas native didn’t have a hand in writing the song it was written by Audra Mae, Evan McKeever and Ryan Carpenter, she appreciates the sentiment and admits she can relate with the main character. 

“‘Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back,” Lambert explains. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I think the songwriters nailed it.”

The Beginning Of A New Chapter

The release of “Wranglers” is monumental in so many ways as it is not only is the beginning of her next musical chapter but also her first release at her new label home at Republic Records with support from Nashville’s Big Loud. She promises there’s a lot more like this on the way. 

“Country music at its core tells the truth about life, but it makes you feel something,” Lambert says. “Sometimes you laugh. Sometimes you throw your fist in the air. Sometimes that fist goes through the wall. All I know is I’ve got a lot more to say, and a lot more music coming soon. So for anyone who’s ever seen themselves in one of my songs, especially the rowdy ones, get ready! We wanted to come with something that really says something from the start. And there’s a whole lot of feelings and rhythms and great playing to come.” 

Lambert debuted “Wranglers” during her performance at Stagecoach last weekend where she also joined by country music icon Reba McEntire during her set. 

Later this month, she will take the stage to perform at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Reba. Lambert is among the first round of performers announced for the show, which also includes  Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.  

The 2024 ACM Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions and will be free to stream live exclusively for a global audience on Prime Video from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas on Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CDT / 5 p.m. PDT.
