Spy x Family is a smash-hit shonen action anime series based on Tatsuya Endo's ongoing manga series of the same name, depicting a tense, bitter cold war between the nations of Westalis and Ostania. Spies and assassins are the order of the day, with the Forger household actually having a spy, Loid Forger, and an assassin, the wholesome Yor Forger.
Yor Forger, born Yor Briar, is a seemingly ordinary clerk at Berlint city hall, but she is much more than that. Yor is now a proud foster mother and a devoted false wife to Loid. During her time in the Forger family, Yor showed just how wonderful a person she really is. There is a lot to love about Yor, from her skills and personality to her appearance and her charming flaws.
10 Yor Is A Protective Big Sister
Yor is more than a foster mother; she is also a protective big sister for her brother Yuri, which is definitely why Yuri grew up to be a total sis-con. Yor, being seven years older, looked after her little brother for years when they were kids, often tutoring him and cooking all the meals.
The younger Yor worked herself to the bone, and Yuri hasn't forgotten any of it. Even if Yuri is a stone-cold SSS agent, he always has a soft spot for his beloved big sister, and Yor deserves her brother's idolization and then some. Even today, Yuri clings tightly to her.

They say "clothes make the man," and sure enough, Yor's new husband Loid is a great dresser, while Yor herself is the height of Ostanian fashion. She's not shallow or gaudy about it, though; Yor's wardrobe is the perfect balance of classy, flashy, and practical.
Yor never fails to look her best, from her cool Thorn Princess outfit to her trendy attire when going out to town. She also looked dazzling during Anya's entrance interviews at Eden Academy, where she and Loid both had equally classy backup outfits, just in case.
8 Yor Is An Elite Assassin
Yor's main job is not her clerical work at Berlint city hall, but her secret job as an elite assassin known only as the Thorn Princess. In works of fiction, assassins are always scary and cool fighters, whether they're heroes or villains, and Yor is one of the best.
Yor is an expert martial artist who can send her foes flying with punches, kicks, and hand chops. She is also highly skilled at throwing knife-like needles at her targets, with those weapons being like her own calling card. No other Spy x Family character is seen using them.
7 Yor Is Charmingly Bashful
Yor Forger isn't quite a full-blown dandere character like Shoko Komi or Miku Nakano, but at times, she gets close, and Spy x Family fans love her for it. Yor is confident in her skills as the Thorn Princess, while in everyday life, she is much more bashful and timid.
Yor is a bit shy and unassertive in daily life, which is what makes her relatable and sympathetic to many fans. It's so much fun to watch Yor delicately blush and stammer nervously around a handsome fellow like Loid.
6 Yor Teaches Anya Various Things
Yor Forger used to tutor her little brother Yuri, and now she can teach things to her new foster daughter, Anya. It's usually Loid who coaches Anya with schoolwork, so Yor tends to coach Anya in the ways of physical activities instead. Anya has a lot of fun training with her "mama."
Anya's training with her foster mother doesn't always pay off, but even so, it's just so wholesome to watch them practice punches, kicks, and sports together. A physical education is vital for all kids, and Yor is ready to deliver.
5 Yor Absolutely Dotes On Anya
Both Loid and Yor take good care of their foster daughter Anya, especially given how the Forger family was intended as a family of convenience. While Loid cares for Anya as her new dad, Yor Forger is absolutely smitten with her new daughter and can't get enough of her.
Yor is bursting with motherly love for her new child, and it's no wonder Anya is generally happier around her foster mom than around Loid. Anime fans are always moved when they watch Yor smothering Anya with pure, protective motherly love and devotion.
4 Yor Dodges Anime Mom Cliches
Some anime moms are pretty cool, such as Masaki Kurosaki in Bleach and Kushina Uzumaki in Naruto, but many more series treat the main character's mother like a token character, complete with the "mom apron" and the distinct hairstyle of a long ponytail over one shoulder. Grisha Yeager and Trisha Elric are both like that.
Yor Forger is in the "cool anime mom" camp instead. She doesn't just fade into the background as an obligatory protagonists' mom, and she feels unconventional but lovable as a foster mother. Deep down, she's a mom where it counts, but she doesn't have to be a cookie cutter background character about it, and she isn't.
3 Yor Is Charmingly Flawed
Yor is a powerful assassin and a great mom, so those positive attributes should be fairly balanced with some character flaws. For example, while Yor is a devoted foster mom and great wife, she is also a terrible cook, and she often has trouble tutoring Anya with homework.
All this gives Yor some weaknesses to overcome, and even if she never addresses those flaws, they add to her charm rather than subtract from it. No one is perfect, and Yor is much more believable as a character this way.
2 Yor Faces Her Insecurities Head-On
Both Yor and Loid feel like they're in over their heads as foster parents, since this whole family paradigm was forced upon them both pretty suddenly. Neither of them had any prior experience with parenting, either. So, it's perfectly understandable if they feel insecure about caring for Anya.
Yor, for example, fears that she is too much of an assassin and monster to be a real mom, and she feels bad about her atrocious cooking and weak domestic skills. To her credit, though, Yor not only admits all this to herself, she pushes herself to be better and do better. It's a great example to set for Anya.
1 Yor's Angry Mode Is Terrifying And Cool
Yor tries to keep her cool in everyday life, and she is happiest when everyone gets along. But if anyone threatens Anya, Yor will fly into a rage as a protective mama bear, and anyone who messes with Anya will soon learn to fear Yor's angry face.
Spy x Family fans are amused, impressed, and even a little scared when Yor's beastly side emerges, from her bared teeth to her intense eyes and most of all, her raging fists. Yor will send anyone and everyone flying if they upset Anya.
