DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Historical Society will premier a new movie, "Our Town Story .... Doylestown" as a fundraiser for its oral and video history project on Thursday, Oct 12 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Central Bucks Senior Citizen Center, 700 Shady Retreat Road, Doylestown.

The movie incorporates clips from many of the society's oral recordings, raising community awareness of the many histories already recorded as well as those planned for the future featuring Doylestown, its residents, and events.

"What a rich history we have! Famous authors, artists, explorers, business owners, an international bike race, parades, Christmas tree lightings, etc.," said Chery Halderson of the Doylestown Historical Society.

"The Doylestown Historical Society has been privileged to interview these interesting people and film the many one-of-a-kind events that have taken place here over the years. Our library contains a vast number of these recordings starting with the 1938 Doylestown Centennial Celebration."

Laura Kolbe sent the society the following reaction after viewing her grandfather’s video history.

"What a delight it was to see the rich and inquisitive interview with my grandfather, Bill Goldman. It's amazing to hear his (and his generation's) distinctive accent, gestures, and idioms preserved for all time, and even more wonderful to glean so many insights from the interview about his thoughts on Doylestown, his career, his social circle, his (and my) family, and the passage of time. The oral history being gathered by the Doylestown Historical Society is a priceless treasure."
