Question
The character played by Tessa Thompson (known to us as Valkyrie) was referred to as ‘Scrapper 142’ in Ragnarok.
Of course she would never go by the name Valkyrie on Sakaar because she’s trying to escape her past, but isn’t Valkyrie a ‘title’. “You’re a Valkyrie?!” - Loki/Thor.
Was she the first Valkyrie, THE Valkyrie and therefore they were all named after her?

Tessa Thompson has said she’s Brunnhilde.
Really? I doubt they’ll actually call her that in the movies though. She might say “my name is Brunnhilde” at some stage but... doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue lol
Her name is Valerie Kyrie, but her friends call her valkyrie.

I don't think they've ever officially confirmed, but it's very likely she's Brunnhilde, the main Valkyrie from the comics.
I think the idea was the blonde who died to save her in the flashback was Brunnhilde, and likely her partner.

Nah I think Valkyries lover was Brunnhilde.
She does look like the comic version of Brunnhilde, and that's my main apprehension for saying our Val is Brunnhilde, but I think it's more likely that was just a fun reference.
MCU Valkyrie looks nothing like comic Brunnhilde, the one that saved Valkyrie from Hela was Brunnhilde.
A lot of people in the MCU don't look like their comics counterparts. MJ, Flash, Heimdall, Korg (in the comics he's not blue), Scott Lang (a redhead in the comics), Grandmaster, Drax (who is green in the comics but grey in the MCU according to James Gunn), and now new characters from the Eternals like Ajak and Kingo.
The only evidence that she is Brunnhilde is that she's blonde, and they're Norse gods. Most of them are blonde. It falls apart really quickly.
