Bling Empire is finally back on our screens after more than a year of waiting. Season 1 was maybe one of the funnest things we've ever watched and season 2 promises to be more of the same. The second instalment did, however, start with one fairly big surprise. Having announced in July 2021 that they wouldn't be back for season 2 of the Netflix show, episode one began with Jessey Lee and Chérie Chan very much back on our screens.

But, not for long: after just three episodes the pair were gone again thanks to some drama surrounding claims about Jessey having previously been married. So, it's time to do some unpicking. Here's a look at Jessey and Chérie's complete relationship history, starting with the most recent update.

12th May 2022 - Chérie opens up about secret marriage to Jessey

When we rejoined the cast of Bling Empire we were surprised to find that Jessey and Chérie were back on the show (last year they had announced they weren't returning for season 2) and planning their wedding after getting engaged at the end of series one. However, it was soon revealed that they actually got married in secret last September. In an Instagram post sharing the news Chérie responded to the claims from others on the show that Jessey had been married before he and Chérie got together.

The caption reads, "Married to the love of my life. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️. Don’t be friends with people who try to hurt your family, kids, and close friends. I will protect you always.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👩‍👧‍👧 It’s ok to marry, fall in love, have kids, divorce, marry again, we should always celebrate love and be there for one another. #positivevibesonly."

The caption seems to be a bit of a clap back at comments from other members of the cast who claimed on season 2 that Jessey was married to a woman named Crystal when he and Chérie met, with some messiness surrounding the dates that everything happened.

Here's the rest of Jessey and Chérie's relationship timeline.

Spring 2015 - Jessey files for divorce from Crystal

According to court documents Jessey filed for divorce from first wife Crystal Linh Hoang Lee almost four years after they got married in June 2011, but the details of their separation and division of assets would drag on for years.

Late 2015 - Jessey and Chérie get together

This is the source of the drama that seemingly caused Chérie and Jessey to exit the show for a second time in season two. The couple's first child J'adore was born in July 2016, meaning they had at least started dating by the end of 2015.

According to Chérie and Jessey J'adore was conceived the first time they had sex - their answer to speculation over when exactly they got together in relation to Jessey's divorce from Crystal.

July 2019 - Jessey and Crystal's divorce is finalised

More than four years after first filing for divorce Jessey's divorce from Crystal is finally finalised, meaning they are legally divorced.

October 2019 - Chérie and Jessey get engaged

Shortly after their second child Jevon is born the couple throw a 100 Day party where Chérie proposed to Jessey, telling outlets shortly afterwards that she was tired of waiting for him to do it. Fair play, Chérie.

Summer 2021: The couple are wedding planning

Season 2, which was filmed in summer 2021, starts with the pair planning what is likely to be a very extravagant wedding which has been going on more than a year and a half by the time we join them.

August 2021: They get engaged...err, again

This time Jessey proposes to Chérie, and in the most typically Bling Empire way. He has the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris closed and proposes to Chérie in front of a portrait he had had commissioned of the pair of them.

September 2021: Chérie and Jessey get married in secret

Who knows when these two started planning this, but after keeping the secret for some time the pair revealed they got married in September at Moët & Chandon's restored Château de Saran castle in Champagne, France.

Reportedly, due to COVID-19 restrictions only eight guests were allowed to attend, however the couple are apparently planning another, bigger do with friends and family when they're able. If you can get bigger than a Moët castle, that is...
