My overall experience with Winter Park has been one of the most memorable high school experiences I could ever ask for. I have had a connection with every single one of my teachers, and some closer than others. By that I mean, I still talk to them even though I’m a sophomore! So much of the staff is welcoming, heartwarming, and thoughtful towards its students. Every worker in Winter Park Highschool strives to make this high school better than it already is. There’s is a multitude a programs, so there’s always something for everyone. There are some things that could need improvement, such as the school lunch food, or the high fair-share fees in some extracurriculars, but other than that Winter Park Highschool is a wonderful place to experience your high school years. If you’re unsure, just ask the alumni! Many teachers who have graduated years ago still teach in Winter Park HS today, because of its charm and resilience.
As a student who moved in for their junior year, and will be graduating as a senior at WPHS I was very impressed by the community. This school is very competitive when it comes to academics. Having classes available from standards up to IBs it gives students many opourtunito challenge themselves and focus on subjects they wish to study on. Although there is a strong academic atmosphere it does not take away from the student's school pride, weather it be at a pep rally or at a football game Winter Park shows an incredible amount of school spirit. As for the Staff, every student is welcomed by a great team of teachers, and although administration can be tough, they do their best to help students shape themselves for the future. Winter park High School has it all, and it continues to support every single one of their students. I was extremely pleased with all these factors from my one year of experience with this school, and I look forward to the rest of my highschool career here.
The IB Program was amazing at WPHS. Teachers were knowledgeable and provided a great foundation for college. Made wonderful friends as well. Would have been great if "Dance" was recognized as a Sport like Cheer vs. Art allowing dancers to qualify for scholarship for college. Other schools in the county recognized dance as a sport but not WPHS. This would allow for mainly female students to have an equal opportunity which is not the case now.
Would like to see the buildings updated with modern functionality offered in updated schools. Access to technology platforms and updates to the athletics including the gymnasiums so athletes can prepare and be competitive with schools in the area.
Just competed at the Villages HS and was amazed by the physical structures and the offerings available. I know that school with dominate sports & academics because of the availability of the resources/facility for training allowing students to be competitive in sports and academics.
