Bollywood actor Asif Basra was found hanging at a private complex at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, reports news agency ANI. He was 53. The cause of the suicide is not yet known. A forensic team is at the spot and an investigation in the matter is underway. Reports also suggest that the actor was living in a rented flat for the past five years.

SHOCKING, SAYS BOLLYWOOD

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to Twitter to express his condolences. He wrote, "Asif Basra! Can't be true... This is just very, very sad (sic)."

Replying to Hansal Mehta's tweet, Manoj Bajpayee wrote that he had shot with the actor just before the lockdown and the news was very shocking. "What? This is too shocking!! Shot with him just before Lockdown!!! Oh My God!," he wrote.

WHO WAS ASIF BASRA?

Asif Basra was a popular face in the film as well as television industry. He was also a well-known theatre actor. He appeared in various films like Sushant Singh Rajput's Kai Po Che, Rani Mukerji's Hichki, Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor's Jab We Met, Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday, and Saif Ali Khan's Kaalakaandi.

Asif Basra was last seen playing the role of Asghar Nabi in Hotstar Special series Hostages. The popular series released its second season in September this year.
