We also host quality ACC teams in Stanford, California, Florida State, Duke and NC State, along with tough road games at North Carolina, Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse and SMU. Our team is ready for the challenge, so fans can be excited about this fall."

Season Outlook
Wake Forest will look to build upon a solid 2023 campaign in which it reached the ACC Tournament for the second time in the past three seasons. The Demon Deacons will play eight home matches and nine away matches during the 2024 slate for a total of 17 contests.

The Deacs finished the 2023 regular season with just two losses, setting a new program record with the previous mark being set at three in 2011. Last season also marked the first time in program history that the Demon Deacons were not shut out in a single game in the regular season.

Wake Forest returns most of the stout defense from a year ago that allowed just 15 goals all season, which set a new program record by two goals allowed (2021). Of note, the Demon Deacons tallied eight shutouts in total.

Returning Production
Wake Forest returns 30 players from a season ago, including seven who made 15 or more starts and 17 who made 10 or more appearances. Additionally, the Demon Deacons return four players (Nikayla Small, Laurel Ansbrow, Kristin Johnson and Abbie Colton) who competed in all 18 matches last season.

Offensively, the Deacs return 84.3 percent (27-of-32) of their goal production from a year ago and six of their top seven goal scorers. Additionally, returning players accounted for each of the Demon Deacons' 22 assists from last season.

Hanks' Development
The Demon Deacons will be led by forward Caiya Hanks as the standout sophomore collected Second Team All-ACC honors a year ago.

Hanks, a product of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, tallied a team-high 16 points during the 2023 campaign, leading the Demon Deacons in goals (six), shots (40) and shots on goal (18), while ranking second in assists (four).

With her nod, Hanks became the 28th player in program history to receive Second Team accolades, while becoming the first to do so since Madison Hammond in 2019.

New Faces
Highlighted by the addition of North Carolina transfer Emily Colton and Columbia transfer Paige Nurkin, Wake Forest will add seven newcomers to the program entering the 2024 season.

Colton, the twin sister of midfielder Abbie Colton, was a five-star recruit and ranked fifth individually in the 2021 class. During her career at North Carolina, Colton started in all 67 of her appearances, tallying 10 goals and eight assists.

Nurkin, a 2023 First Team All-Ivy League selection this past season at Columbia, will add immediate depth at goalkeeper. Nurkin was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week three times during the 2023 campaign and led Columbia to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
