21 Cabo Resorts With Swimmable Beaches: The Ultimate List!

We adore Cabo. The trendy hotels. The to-die-for pools. The mouthwatering cuisine. It’s all there in spades.

But you know what is hard to find? Cabo resorts with swimmable beaches.

Believe it or not, swimming beaches in Cabo aren’t the norm.

The Pacific side has strong currents making even a leisurely float unsafe. So, you have to head over to the Sea of Cortez side. But even then, not all the beaches there have calm water.

You need to know the best areas to stay in Cabo and the best resorts. If you have your heart set on swimming in the sea, you don’t want to end up on a beach vacation at a hotel without a swimmable beach.

That’s where we come in.

We’ve vacationed in Cabo dozens of times. And as travel journalists, we’ve written lots about the region for magazines and newspapers too. So, it’s almost become a second home to us.

In particular, we’ve stayed at many of the following hotels and inspected many others on hotel “site visits.”

This is the ultimate list of Cabo resorts with swimmable beaches!

You may first want to know that many resorts in Cabo are timeshare properties with kitchenettes or full kitchens.

But you don’t have to be an “owner” to stay at them. You can still book a suite or condo-style unit at most of these resorts, just as you would any other hotel accommodation.

Most also have all the amenities and services of a good hotel (pools, restaurants, daily maid service and the like). They’re actually pretty swish!

The only downside is that you may be invited to a timeshare presentation, in the hopes that you’ll buy a timeshare in the resort.

If you don’t feel like going to one, simply say “No thanks.”

Timeshare resorts aren’t so different from regular hotels (except for having kitchens or kitchenettes)

The fact is, however, that there are probably more timeshare and fractional ownership resorts in Los Cabos than there are pure hotels.

Anyway, we’ll start with the swimmable beach resorts at the south end of Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas town, go up along the Tourist Corridor and end just beyond San Jose del Cabo.

Let’s do this!

Cabo San Lucas resorts with swimmable beaches

When searching for hotels in Cabo San Lucas with swimmable beaches, think Medano Beach.

Glorious Medano Beach is the beach in Cabo San Lucas.

Medano Beach early in the morning
Medano Beach early in the morning

Starting at the Cabo San Lucas Marina, this golden sand, crescent-shaped beach extends east along Cabo San Lucas Bay for about two miles.

The stretch of beach closest to the marina is almost always safe for swimming. The sandy beach is gently sloping and the water is usually calm, with no waves.

Indeed, the whole first one-mile stretch from the marina is often swimmable (and you’ll find most of Cabo’s hottest beach clubs here.)

Most of the hotels and resorts on Medano Beach have safe-for-swimming beach access. (Still, keep an eye out for occasional warning signs.)

The closer you get to the Riu Palace (#14), however, safe swimming becomes hit and miss, depending on the conditions.

Often the waves are strong in front of the Riu Palace, and it’s red-flagged as too dangerous for swimming.

Even when conditions are calmer, it’s not usually a good place for children to play by the water’s edge or swim here.

Beyond the Riu Palace, Medano Beach is definitely considered unsafe for swimming, with steep drop-offs and strong currents. (And there are no hotels on this wild and secluded part of the public beach.)

1) Breathless

A corner room with amazing views! (Credit: Breathless)

Breathless Resort and Spa is a trendy all-inclusive resort for adults with an energetic vibe.

Their motto, “Live Big, Breath Deep,” is about finding balance. Play hard and relax completely.

Start the day with a fitness class before refueling on breakfast.

Then, since you’re at one of the best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Cabo with a swimmable beach, take advantage of the calm water with a water sports sesh.

Afterward, head back to the hotel for the daytime DJ and pool party until you’re ready for sunset cocktails at the rooftop bar, followed by dinner.

Later, return to your large suite with a private balcony facing the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

What more could you want? A world-class spa? Ok. You can have that too!

A huge plus to staying here is the location.

Right on the marina, this deluxe 4-star resort is as close as you can get to all the action in town, while still having access to Medano Beach (on the other side of the resort).

2) 1 Homes Preview Cabo

The exciting 1 Homes Cabo Preview was inspired by the area’s natural beauty. (Hello Land’s End! And if you don’t know, Land’s End is that dramatic rocky outcropping you see jutting out at the very end of the Baja California Peninsula.)

The first part of this new development is a collection of condos and hacienda-style homes.

They’re super modern and sizeable, starting at 1,754 square feet.

Your condo has an open-concept kitchen with high-end appliances… Although you’re not likely to cook too much with all the dining options around (including a food truck by the pool dishing out excellent tacos and mango salads).

However, you can hire a chef and bartender to put that kitchen to good use.

The oceanview pool at 1 Homes Preview Cabo is literally three steps away from Medano Beach.

When you want to get wet, choose from your private plunge pool, two main pools with ocean views or a dip in the Sea of Cortez.

Note: The hotel part of this resort opens in 2025, so construction is ongoing.

3) Hacienda Beach Club & Residences

The luxurious Hacienda Beach Club & Residences is one of the best resorts in Cabo San Lucas on a swimmable beach.
This luxury resort has a prime location on Medano Beach

The Hacienda Beach Club & Residences is an oceanfront paradise with direct access to Medano Beach.

The high-end residences range from one-bedroom condo-style units to four-bedroom villas that sleep 10.

Each has a full gourmet kitchen. And all residences blend the outdoors and indoors with handcrafted furnishings, natural stone finishes and hints of coral, along with panoramic views.

As well as the beach, the resort features a beautiful oceanfront pool surrounded by wrought iron loungers covered with thick cushions.

If you’re looking for one of the best swimmable beach resorts in Cabo San Lucas – one that offers all the comforts of home (and more!) and that’s a hop and a skip away from restaurants in town – you’ve found it here.

It’s 5-star luxury vacation living at its finest.

4) Corazon Cabo Resort & Spa

This beachfront resort has a wide range of accommodations to choose from (Credit: Corazon Cabo)

The Corazon Cabo, in the heart of El Medano Beach, has 305 luxury rooms and suites. Your views of the beach are so close, you feel like you could almost reach out and grab a handful of sand from your bedroom.

Every room has floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, terraces for outdoor dining and roomy bathrooms. The earthy tonal palette is elegant yet cozy, with furnishings influenced by Mexico’s history and culture.

You’ll have access to two infinity pools overlooking the sea, a hot new beach club, a spa, multiple dining options and a craft brewery without ever leaving the property.

One thing: You’ll want to be a music lover to appreciate the beach scene here, as you can’t escape the thumping music from adjacent bars and beach clubs. (Or wear your own ear buds to listen to your own tunes.)

5) Bahia Hotel & Beach House

Bahia Hotel & Beach House, Los Cabos
The beach club at this boutique hotel is amazing (Credit: Bahia Hotel & Beach House)

Okay, the Bahia Hotel isn’t exactly on the beach – it’s a block away. But it has an amazing beach club on Medano’s shores, Sur Beach House.

And we happen to love the small hotel. One of Cabo’s hippest boutique hotels, it’s perfect for the young and hip – and it’s less pricey than a lot of other hotels with swimmable beaches in Cabo.

So we’re including it here in our collection. You deserve to know about it!

The thing about the Bahia Hotel is its ability to feel elevated and upscale while feeling intimate too. The deeply personalized service and details evident throughout the hotel ooze passion.

You’ll definitely want to spend your days lounging at Sur Beach House (the hotel’s hot beach club).

The club’s Zen-like white and cream design blends into the pale-tan sand, so the calm ocean is the star of the show.

The vibe is upbeat, the food is high quality (fresh oysters, anyone?) and the music is curated by daily DJs (sometimes there’s a saxophone player too).

The Bahia Hotel’s restaurant, Bar Esquina, is also one of our favorite restaurants in Cabo San Lucas.

For the complete lowdown, see our review of the Bahia Hotel & Beach House.

6) Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa

The Casa Dorada is tucked behind The Office and Mango Deck beach clubs/bars on Medano Beach.

The pet- and family-friendly Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa is steps away from El Medano Beach.

The 181 elegant suites have kitchens (or kitchenettes), furnishings by renowned designer Adriana Hoyos and modern amenities, all in desert hues. The balconies are private with pool, garden or Pacific Ocean views.

There are five onsite restaurants.

Or order from the 24-hour room service menu if you’re too chilled to leave the comfort of your suite after a day indulging at the Saltwater Spa (which is one of the best spas in Cabo San Lucas).

It’s hard to decide between the swim-up bar in one of the two pools or the lounge chairs at the private beach club. But we have a feeling you’re up to the task.

Note: Like Corazon Cabo (#4 above), Casa Dorada is still in the buzzy part of Medano Beach, so you have to like music to enjoy the beach and pool.

7) ME Cabo

The ME Cabo by Melia is one of the trendiest hotels in Cabo on a swimmable beach.
What’s your fancy? Pool or beach? (Credit: ME Cabo)

It’s sophisticated yet hip. It’s exclusive yet laid-back.

The ME Cabo by Melia is ideal if you’re looking for a cool-and-luxe property with an Ibiza-style party vibe, smack in the middle of El Medano Beach where you can swim.

Its Taboo Beach Club is a restaurant, pool and beach club where you can drink champagne and float in the pool to the sounds of a DJ.

If you drink too much champagne, the stress-busting Korpo Spa should set you right.

As it’s only a five-minute walk to downtown Cabo San Lucas, you can easily dine around at Cabo’s great Italian restaurants, seafood places and other eateries.

Obviously, ME Cabo is not for families or couples who want a quiet beach vacay.

8) Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos

The Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos is one of the best hotels in Cabo San Lucas on Medano Beach.
The Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos is one of our favorite hotels in Cabo San Lucas on Medano Beach

We’re not going to lie. We love the Pueblo Bonito properties, all four of them.

We go back here every time we’re in the Los Cabos area. Even if just to smell the delicious lobby scent we can’t get enough of. (Why haven’t they made that into a perfume yet?)

But we digress.

This original hotel was built in 1991 and looks more Mediterranean than Mexican. It’s been dubbed Blanco for its all-white exterior and blue cupolas.

All 148 ocean-view suites are spacious, with kitchenettes and balconies.

Junior Suites are 525 square feet and have two double beds. We’ve stayed in one of their Luxury Suites (750 square feet), which have a separate bedroom.

But the beach reigns here. Comfy beach chairs are set up under umbrellas along Medano Beach. And the beaching and swimming is quite divine!

At this point on Medano Beach, you’re beyond the beach bars and clubs, so you don’t hear any music (and there are no pool parties and DJs).

The PB resort suits families and couples.

9) Pueblo Bonito Rose Resort & Spa

Pink beach chairs on the sand at Pueblo Bonito Rose
Shades of pink, that’s Pueblo Bonito Rose!

Right next door to #8 is its younger sister property, the Pueblo Bonito Rose.

It’s just as inviting but decidedly different.

This condo-hotel has Roman busts, Flemish tapestries, Florentine columns and a tall statue of Neptune to mix things up.

Its décor was inspired by the name, and multiple shades of rose and pink are threaded throughout the property, including the spa and lounge chairs by the pool.

Blanco and Rose have all-inclusive options if you’d prefer not to think about money while on vacation.

10) Club Cascadas de Baja

One of two pools at Club Cascadas de Baja

Of all the resorts with swimmable beaches in Cabo San Lucas, this one is tough to get into.

(It’s a private timeshare resort with a “club” atmosphere. But it’s still possible to get accommodation. We’ve gotten in.)

Directly on El Medano Beach, with endless views of the Sea of Cortez, this resort’s architecture is decidedly “Old Baja.”

The one- to four-bedroom condo-style accommodations are housed in white-washed villas with thatched bamboo roofs, encircled by coco palms.

They all have kitchens and access to tennis courts, babysitting, two pools and a clubhouse with a pool table. Several units have their own private pools and/or outdoor hot tubs.

With only 113 units, it feels intimate and the landscaping is lush.

It’s a bit quirky though – there are no TVs in the units. And a quiet atmosphere prevails.

When the beach calls, settle yourself on a beach chair underneath the shade of a thatched palapa.

The resort’s Cascadas Beach Grill has tables in the sand and is a popular place for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

11) Villa Del Arco Beach Resort & Spa

Villa del Arco has a cool pirate ship anchored in its pool – and a great beach in front (Credit: Villa del Arco)

Villa del Arco is a family-friendly resort (at the quieter end of the Medano Beach hotel zone), surrounded by tropical gardens.

It’s a great escape for people of all ages who want the comforts of home (condos with kitchens, etc.).

For the little ones, there is a Kids Club.

For the parents and grandparents, or should we say more mature people, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness center, Desert Spa, tennis courts and two incredible pools just steps away from the golden sand beach.

As you can see, there are quite a few resorts on swimmable beaches in Cabo (on Medano Beach, in particular).

But this is one of the best for families.

Villa del Arco, Cabo: Check rates and availability (or check on Vrbo)

12) Villa La Estancia

Suites at this Cabo resort have great pool and sea views (Credit: Villa La Estancia)

Next door to Villa del Arco is its grown-up sister, the 5-star Villa La Estancia.

It’s more laid-back, upscale and reserved. The accommodations are swankier and more romantic – it’s definitely a luxury resort.

The hacienda-style rooms and suites have private balconies or terraces.

More spacious than the Villa del Arco suites, they range from 620-square-foot rooms to 4-bedroom penthouses with five bathrooms (for a total 7,000 square feet in size).

You can even have a meal prepared in your gourmet kitchen by a top chef.

If you stay here, you can use the pools at #11 and #13, which is a bonus because sometimes the sea here can get a little rough. And who doesn’t like options?

But, just like a mean older sister, you can’t use the pool at Villa La Estancia unless you stay here.

See what we mean by more exclusive?

13) Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa

A studio-style room at Villa del Palmar

Further along the beach, you come to the Villa del Palmar, just beside Villa La Estancia.

Because it’s also associated with #11 and #12, you can use most of their amenities – meaning you can access the 31,000-square-foot Desert Spa, #11’s fitness center and all 14 restaurants.

But it’s the most wallet-friendly option of the three resorts. The condo-type accommodations also have kitchens.

Its all-inclusive option makes it a no-brainer if you’re looking for resorts in Cabo with swimmable beaches that the whole family can enjoy (where Mom doesn’t have to cook).

14) Hotel Riu Palace, Riu Sante Fe and Riu Palace Baja California

Pool at Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas
Is this pool big enough for you? (Credit: Riu Hotels and Resorts)

At the north end of all the Medano Beach hotels is Hotel Riu Palace, a 600-room giant.

There are other all-inclusive resorts in Cabo with swimmable beaches, but this one has more party vibes than luxury ones.

Sometimes strong waves and currents at this end of Medano Beach mean it’s not safe to swim here.

But you can usually play in the surf at the water’s edge.

With 24-hour room service, two large pools (with swim-up bars and pool parties) and lots of entertainment, this adults-only resort is ideal for singles or a group of friends.

That being said, we thought the walls were a bit thin when we stayed here, so it would be wise to bring some earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Right next door is the Riu Sante Fe, its family-friendly sister hotel.

Recently renovated, this 3½-star property is another ginormous all-inclusive resort, with a children’s water park (with waterslides) and lots of activities.

There’s also the adjacent Riu Palace Baja California, which is for adults-only.

All three resorts are quite reasonably priced. And, hey, you’re on Medano Beach!

Cabo hotels with swimmable beaches along the Tourist Corridor

The Tourist Corridor is the 20-mile stretch of coastline between the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

And there are a few swimmable beaches with hotels along the Corridor.

15) Montage Los Cabos

The Montage is one of the best 5-star hotels in Cabo on a swimmable beach (Credit: Montage Los Cabos)

The 122-room Montage Los Cabos fronts Santa Maria Beach (Playa Santa Maria) and its crystalline waters, about 7½ miles east of Cabo San Lucas on the Corridor.

One of the top luxury resorts in Cabo, it takes “luxury” to the next level.

Rooms and suites have spa bathrooms with outdoor showers; some have private plunge pools. As well, there are Residences with full kitchens; some of these have private pools as well.

It specializes in highly personalized and authentic experiences to provide you the vacation you’ve always dreamed of. Ask, and you shall receive.

Grab a cabana at the pool or beach, where you’ll be pampered until you can’t be pampered anymore.

Complimentary hourly treats at the pool include fruit popsicles and smoothies. (Is there such a thing as being over-pampered?)

However, if you need more, don’t worry. Go to the 40,000-square-foot Spa Montage for a sensuous spa treatment inspired by the rhythms of the sea.

You can swim at the beach too, of course. It’s also excellent for snorkeling. (Tour boats come from the Cabo San Lucas Marina to Santa Maria Bay for snorkeling.)

When you’re ready to break up with your beach chair (which might be never), you can take a camel safari, go on an ATV tour or book any number of other unique things to do in Cabo.

16) Chileno Bay Resort & Residences

Colorful surfboard designs at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences
We were very impressed by the Chileno Bay Resort!

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences is also the kind of place where it’s easy to feel spoiled, with unique touches like a pool concierge and personal chefs.

This sanctuary is nestled into a private cove and snorkeling reef at Chileno Bay. And like the Montage (#15), it’s one of the finest Cabo resorts with a swimmable beach.

You’ll have a hard time swapping out the pool for the beach, though.

With thick cushioned loungers surrounding a gorgeous three-tiered adult pool, who could blame you?

The adults-only pool at Chileno Bay
The adults-only pool at Chileno Bay

Grab a fresh watermelon margarita from the floating bartender and play a game of Texas Hold ’em without ever leaving the saltwater pool.

Still, you should take out a SUP board from the hotel’s beach club or swim at Chileno Beach (Playa Chileno) – it’s right there at your fingertips!

Oh, and the rooms and suites?

Well, they’re sublimely decorated and contemporary in style. They bring the outside in with outdoor rain showers and huge balconies or terraces.

(We love the baby-blue-and-white tile floors in the bathrooms).

Some suites have private plunge pools too.

If you book a Villa Suite, you can choose a two-, three-, four- or six-bedroom layout. They have gourmet kitchens; many also have private pools or Jacuzzis.

Chileno Bay vs. Montage

Don’t bother trying to compare Montage vs. Chileno Bay. It’s almost impossible to choose which is “best.”

They’re both uber-luxe resorts that welcome families and couples. And they both feature beautiful accommodations, top-notch restaurants and safe swimming beaches (though the Montage might edge Chileno Bay out in the beach department).

Make your life simple and book whichever has the lowest rates at the time.

17) Paradisus Los Cabos

If you want to leave your wallet in your room safe, the Paradisus is another all-inclusive resort in Cabo on a swimmable beach (higher end than the Riu, #14).

Enjoy the sounds of the waves from your elegant suite with ocean or garden views.

Treat your inner self at the YHI Spa, an oasis to balance your body and mind.

Or upgrade your experience to The Reserve and spend time in the adults-only private areas.

On the beach (Tequila Cove Beach), you can swim, relax under your beach umbrella, enjoy a beach massage or play volleyball.

18) Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

Yoga on the beach at Hilton Los Cabos
Who wouldn’t be tempted to do yoga on the beach here? (Credit: Hilton Los Cabos)

The Hilton is a Los Cabos swimmable beach resort that gets understated luxury. It’s also a premier family-friendly escape.

It doesn’t hurt that it’s on a peaceful stretch of the Sea of Cortez (beside #17 on Tequila Cove Beach, aka Playa Bledito or Hilton Cove).

Every hacienda-inspired room or suite has an ocean view from the bed, oversized bathtub and private balcony.

Splurge on an Altamar Suite with a private plunge pool, and enjoy a “floating breakfast” served in your pool, daily cocktail hour, welcome bottle of tequila and other perks.

A couple enjoy a floating breakfast in their private pool at Hilton Los Cabos.

You can golf at one of the Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf or Robert Trent Jones II courses nearby.

But we expect you’ll want to spend most of your time at the hotel’s Enclave Beach Club.

It’s the place to go for a posh, toes-in-the-sand day fueled by craft cocktails and tapas.

Resorts with swimmable beaches in San Jose del Cabo

A few swimming beaches in San Jose del Cabo, including Palmilla Beach and El Ganzo Beach, have hotels associated with them.

(Staying in San Jose del Cabo also puts you closer to some delectable farm-to-table restaurants like Acre and Flora Farms.)

19) One & Only Palmilla

This resort is one of our favorite luxury resorts in Cabo – the swimmable beach is a bonus (Credit: One&Only Palmilla)

The One & Only Palmilla is legendary. We didn’t know why so many Hollywood stars flocked to it until we stayed here ourselves. But now we get it.

The pampering starts the minute you arrive, when the private butler unpacks your clothes in your colonial-style guestroom.

It continues with scented candles at turndown and a complimentary 10-minute foot massage at the adult pool.

All rooms have panoramic Sea of Cortez views from the terrace or balcony. With little to no light pollution, it’s a beautiful location for stargazing.

For a dip in the ocean, wander down to a virtually private beach cove – an extension of the public Palmilla Beach (Playa Palmilla) – and swim to your heart’s content.

20) Hotel El Ganzo

Hotel El Ganzo at sunset
Magic hour at Hotel El Ganzo

We’ve stayed at Hotel El Ganzo three times, so obviously, we kinda love it.

The arty boutique hotel only has 70 rooms, and their attention to detail is impeccable.

We can’t get enough of the cool rooftop pool with a glass hot tub and knock-your-bikini-off ocean views.

We know, we know.

El Ganzo is one of the best swimmable beach resorts in Cabo, but with such breathtaking views from the pool, you try pulling yourself away from the rooftop pool!

The hotel does, however, have a beach club when you’re ready for the beach.

Just hop in the hotel’s boat for a 5-minute ride across the Puerto Los Cabos Marina – and you arrive at El Ganzo Beach.

21) Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos

Can you feel yourself destressing here? (Credit: Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos)

It’s located on the East Cape, more than an hour’s drive away from San Jose del Cabo.

Still, we can’t leave out the Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas on a list of the best hotels in Los Cabos with swimmable beaches.

Because it doesn’t front just any swimmable beach. This part of the Sea of Cortez is what Jacques Cousteau called “The Aquarium of the World.”

The onsite snorkeling is some of the best in the region. At nearby Cabo Pulmo Marine Park, it’s world-class.

The luxury hotel itself is set on a long stretch of white sand, with unobstructed views of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains.

The placid turquoise waters beckon you to swim, kayak or SUP, and the hotel’s beach cabanas are free.

There are six swimming pools, five dining options and a unique wellness center, the Oasis Spa. It offers everything from guided meditation and breathwork to cooking classes and mountain hikes to the Sol de Mayo waterfall.

Because of its seclusion, most guests stay on the property. The Four Seasons is a great place to forget the outside world.

But with so much on offer, you may never make it to the beach!
