Southwest's Latest Sale Has 50% Off Flights Across the U.S. and Caribbean — but You'll Have to Book Soon

The sale must be booked by 11:59 p.m. PT on Sept. 28.

Southwest is significantly discounting flights across the country, slashing prices in half for fall and winter travel.

The sale, which must be booked by 11:59 p.m. PT on Sept. 28, is available for 50 percent off travel on select flights from Oct. 24 through March 6, 2024, according to Southwest. To book, travelers must enter the promo code “WOW50” when purchasing their flights.

The sale is part of Southwest’s “Week of WOW” in which the airline posts new promotions each day.

As part of the latest deal, travelers can save big on flights that criss-cross the country as well as to popular (and warm) international destinations like Cancun, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas, and more.

There are several blackout dates associated with the sale, however, which include excluding travel throughout the contiguous United States from Nov. 17 to Nov. 22, Nov. 25 to Nov. 27, Dec. 21 to Dec. 23, Dec. 26 to Dec. 30, Jan. 1, 2024, Jan. 2, 2024, Jan. 6, 2024, Jan. 7, 2024, and Feb. 16, 2024, to Feb. 19, 2024. Different blackout dates apply for travel specifically to Orange County, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and for international flights.

The sale fares are valid for either one-way or round trip Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares, which the airline added as a new fare class last year. Wanna Get Away Plus fares come with perks like allowing customers to transfer eligible unused flight credits to someone for future use.

Southwest has also revamped its Wanna Get Away fare class, which is its base fare, and now allows travelers who purchase that ticket to fly same-day standby for free. For all travelers, Southwest famously doesn’t charge change fees.

The airline is also in the process of upgrading its onboard experience, including installing USB A and USB C power ports at every seat and offering better Wi-Fi connections.
