Major Capital One Venture X benefits
Welcome offer
The current welcome offer for the Capital One Venture X card is fairly generous:
- Earn 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.
Welcome offers can and do change periodically, and this is one of the better ones available, so if you’re interested in applying for the card it’s better to do so sooner rather than later. At a minimum, this bonus is worth several hundred dollars towards travel when booked through Capital One Travel. However, those miles can increase in value when you transfer them to Capital One’s airline and hotel partners which may offer higher redemption values.
Earn Capital One miles
The Capital One Venture X card earns 2 miles per $1 on purchases, 5 miles per $1 on flights booked through Capital One Travel and on purchases through Capital One Entertainment and 10 miles per $1 on hotels and rental cars booked via Capital One Travel.
Capital One miles are a type of flexible point currency, which means they can be redeemed in a number of ways. This can make them easier to redeem than points you’ll find on other rewards credit cards.
For example, your miles can be used to book travel through the Capital One Travel portal or cover eligible travel purchases made with your card. You can also transfer them to one of Capital One’s hotel and airline partners.
There are other redemption options, too, like buying gift cards and shopping at select retailers, but these generally don’t offer the best value for your miles.
Annual $300 travel credit
Although the travel credit offered by the Capital One Venture X is more limited than some others as the credit only applies to purchases made through the Capital One Travel portal, it can still provide great value to cardholders. Each year, cardholders can receive a $300 credit for travel booked via Capital One’s travel portal — whether that’s on flights, hotels or rental cars.
Anniversary bonus
A 10,000-mile bonus is awarded on every card anniversary year, which members can redeem however they see fit. At a minimum, this is worth $100 towards travel.
Airport lounge access
Frequent travelers will benefit from the airport lounge access the Capital One Venture X provides, as it’s more comprehensive than competitors such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
Not only will cardholders receive a Priority Pass Select membership upon enrollment (which allows unlimited entry to 1,300+ lounges for themselves and two guests), they’ll also have access to Plaza Premium Group and Capital One lounges.
