- Edited 2 years agoI partially agree with We.Have.Explosive's comments this IS a melancholy album BUT it is also a beautifully orchestrated slice of prog synth heaven. The average Genesis head will definitively pick up the "Wind & Wuthering" sound that in the mid to late 70s Banks was hung up on in a good way! I will say many many years on I still don't care for the vocals his voice is thin and raspy and this release would have went down the gullet much smoothers sans vox. The instrumentation is think and lots of synth strings, Yamaha electric piano and delicious solo's dark, minor and ominous. This is IMHO perfect music for fall weather sort of reflective pensive music for deep thinking, tho some might call it depressing I wouldn't go that route but there is a underlying chiaroscuro in Tony's keyboard textures and melodies.
- If you love Synths is worth a listen - it isn't very exciting though. Not many hooks.
For the true Genesis ultra-fan
