Sophie Monk's life and career through the years: From Popstars to Love Island Australia

With a vivacious personality and a sense of humour second to none it's hard not to love Sophie Monk.

The blonde beauty is one of Australia's most beloved TV personalities and a woman of many talents.

Whether she was singing in pop group Bardot in the early 2000s or hosting Love Island Australia, she's always been on our screens. 

Here we take a look back at the most memorable moments of Sophie's life and career.

No matter the occasion, Sophie Monk is fronting up dressed to the nines.

The LEGO Masters Australia vs The World Grand Finale was no exception. 

Sophie made a special guest appearance to the TV event wearing a LEGO-inspired frock that was checkered with blue, yellow, green and red tiles.

With the colours of the gown doing all the talking, Sophie kept the accessories to a minimum and styled her hair in a sleek Hollywood wave.

During the Grand Finale event, Sophie sang the Australian, US and German anthems.

Sophie Monk shared a sweet tribute to her husband Joshua Gross as he celebrated his birthday.

Taking to her social media, Sophie posted a picture of Joshua planting a romantic kiss on her forehead.

"Happy Birthday @joshuagross I love you sooo much," she wrote. 

In the week gone by, Sophie Monk celebrated her 44th birthday.

And 44 never looked so good.

In a sweet birthday tribute posted by Sophie's husband Joshua Gross, fans got a glimpse into the couple's life together including days at home with the dog and lavish overseas holidays.

"Happiest of Birthdays. Better every year ❤," Joshua wrote alongside the video.

Sophie replied in the comment section: "Thank you my baby 😍."

In one snap Sophie stunned in the waters in an eye-catching orange bikini.

Sophie is an Aussie national treasure, and before landing her hosting gig on Love Island Australia she appeared in a number of Hollywood movies including Click, Hard Breakers and Spring Breakdown.

One of her most iconic movie stints was in the 2006 film Date Movie (pictured), which she reflected on in an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment.

"When you don't have any other talent but the entertainment industry, you've got to give everything a go!" she joked.

"I love entertaining, I love making people happy and I try and go for those positive things... I'm a performer at the end of the day, and I'm lucky to have had opportunities like that."

"I love that movie," Sophie said about Date Movie, which is available to stream on Stan right now.

She said she's now gearing up for her Hollywood return next year.

"I did a movie with Vanilla Ice, that'll be out next year. It's called Zombie Plane!" she beamed.

The film will follow passengers on a jet flying from Sydney to Los Angeles, who become infected with new strains of zombie viruses. Vanilla Ice and Sophie Monk are forced to team up to contain the contagion before the US Air Force shoots it out of the sky.

Frankly, we can't wait.

Sophie Monk is one busy woman!

The host is just about to return to screens as host of Love Island Australia Season 5, and and is also an ambassador for Yellow Tail wine.

In October 2023, she attended an event for the wine brand while looking absolutely sensational in a plunging yellow dress.

She looked picture perfect with her husband Joshua Gross, as the pair posed up a storm while stood on a balcony.

Sophie was spotted enjoying a glass of bubbly and joking around with guests at the event, and it was smiles all round!

Sophie is an Australian icon in her own right, but in a hilarious video uploaded to Instagram she channeled the energy of another Aussie icon – the Matildas.

Ahead of the Matildas v England Women's World Cup semi-final, Sophie celebrated the team by showcasing her own football skills.

"Anyone else thinking they're a soccer expert right now? So proud of you @matildas," she wrote.

"I'm available if you need an understudy at the Paris Olympics 😜 you're legends ladies ♥️"

In the video, Sophie kicked the ball around before headbutting it to the camera.

Just seconds later it bounced back and hit her in the face. In true Sophie style she laughed it off.

Fans in the comment section were loving Sophie's spirit calling her a "national treasure".

"It's the combination of Matildas meets Kath Day-Knight choreography and a Sharon Strzelecki injury to finish off 10/10 😂🙌," one fan wrote.

Another joked, "Ha ha look out Mackenzie Arnold will be soon un-employed if you keep this up Sophie 😂"

While a third follower said, "I honestly can't stop laughing. Sorry (not sorry) you're so funny Sophie 💗."

Sophie Monk has been on our screens for a long time.

And we've even got vision of her first ever TV appearance on Bert Newton's talent show New Faces.

The then 12-year-old performed an song titled 'Ugly Duckling', although the beauty was anything but.

The now 43-year-old uploaded the throw back video to her Instagram page.

"Can anyone share their most embarrassing pre-pubescent story to make me feel better???🙈" she wrote.

"Being a duck on tv wasn't great for high school. I was picked on forever 😂."

Sophie Monk's LEGO Masters Grand Masters arrival was nothing short of breathtaking.

The star stunned in red gown with a thigh high split and a faux fur shall.

"It's Jessica Rabbit," host Hamish Blake pointed out the resemblance.

The bubbly blonde appeared on the show as a specia guest in Episode 3 as part of the Is it Real or Fake challenge.

Teams were tasked with replicating real world objects and Sophie's goal was to see if she could detect which creations were real and which were fake.

As far as Sophie's style moments go this one is hard to beat.

For the 2019 Logie Awards, Sophie had a 'if you can't beat them join them' approach with her outfit.

The TV personality was a golden vision as the train of her dress made quite the spectacle in the wind. 

Sophie Monk is known now for her vivacious personality but she launched her career on the singing competition Popstars hosted by Jackie O'Henderson.

During the series, Sophie, alongside Belinda Chapple, Sally Polihronas, Katie Underwood and Tiffani Wood, was selected to launch the girl band Bardot.

Sophie posted a throwback of one of their performances to Instagram.

"How has so much time gone past??!?" she wrote.

"I remember watching the show where you guys got selected to join the group hosted by Jackie O.

"I think it was Popstars. Was it in 2000?!?" she joked.

In April 2022, Sophie married Joshua Gross in an intimate at-home wedding.

"I HAVE A HUBBY! 😃We eloped-ish at home. I can't believe I met him on a plane! It's crazy. Best flight of my life! I really do believe everything happens for a reason," she captioned the photo.

"I love you @joshuargross thanks for putting up with how messy, disorganised and lazy I am.

"Youre my best friend in the world AND you are welcome for how hilarious my jokes are and how I absolutely smash you in Xbox F1! We're both lucky 🤪."

Sophie was every bit the perfect bride in a J'Aton Couture gown and couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she sat pretty on Josh's lap.

Sophie and Joshua danced the night away at their low-key wedding reception.

There Sophie had a second J'Aton Couture dress for the evening.

The slinky silver number featured hanging beads and intricate detailing around the bodice and bust. 

In 2003, Sophie proved yet again why she was the queen of Aussie pop!

She performed alongside Dannii Minogue at the Logie Awards.

The singer wowed audiences with her 'Get The Music On' performance.

Sophie posted the throwback to her social media account and couldn't help but poke fun at her younger self.

"I spent my budget on the damn wind machine trying to be Michael Jackson," she joked.

Sophie turned heads in a knockout Steven Khalil gown.

The dress featured plenty of beads and bedazzles which cascaded beautifully into the train.

She picked up the gig in 2018 and has been slaying the Villa style ever since.

Sophie was channeling Daphne from Scooby Doo as she wowed in a purple satin dress with green trimming.

In 2017, Sophie looked for love on The Bachelorette.

For her debut, the blonde beauty stunned in a soft pink gown.

The halter neck dress featured a peek-a-boo cut out and a daring split.

Sophie ended up with Stuart Laundy by the end of the season but the pair split six months later after reportedly being more friends than anything else.
