Marcus Mariota’s popularity isn’t limited to Nashville or Tennessee. He’s still a hero in Eugene, Ore., for his bevy of accomplishments at the University of Oregon and his hand in helping that program emerge as a national power. Mariota is also beloved in his home state of Hawaii.

That nationwide appeal helped the Titans quarterbacks's No. 8 jersey land at No. 8 in offseason jersey sales.

The top 10: 1. New York Giants' Saquon Barkley; 2. San Francisco's Jimmy Garoppolo; 3. Philadelphia's Carson Wentz; 4. New England's Tom Brady; 5. Cleveland's Baker Mayfield; 6. Philadelphia's Nick Foles; 7. New York Jets' Sam Darnold; 8. Mariota; 9. Dallas' Dak Prescott; 10. Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott.

It stands to reason that Mariota’s placement was aided by the Titans’ new-look jerseys, but it also speaks to Mariota’s widespread popularity. He is in front of two Dallas Cowboys, and just behind a few rookies, the Super Bowl MVP, the starting quarterback for the Super Bowl champions, Brady, and the steamrolling Garoppolo bandwagon. That’s not a bad group to be ranked with, new jerseys or not.

On-field productivity surely has helped Mariota. He was at his best on the biggest stages last season and put together some highlight-reel plays in huge moments.

If everything goes according to plan this season and Mariota takes a big step forward under new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mariota stay in the top 10 in jersey sales throughout the year.
