WTAF!!!! Spoiler alert 🚨

MC, heroine, Angela’s dad falls ill, needs expensive treatment and a random multi-millionaire dude she does a good deed for whilst not knowing he is rich, says he’ll foot all the medical bills if she marries his son, without telling said son true reason of forced nuptials leaving him to assume she’s a gold-digging slut (his exact words, not mine), doing it for the money which technically she is despite her noble intentions.

MC hero, Xavier is a spoilt, honest to god pretentious asshole who on their wedding night purposely sets up his new bride to find him on their wedding bed, balls deep inside the woman who did her damn make-up for the big day.

She is the first of a number of women he screws, even in their shared penthouse during his marriage, and whilst this all goes down, we get from Angela...nothing. Doesn’t say shit, lets him call her names, SLUT, BITCH, MONSTER, you name it....screams at her, allows a table of his rich, bitchy friends to talk down to her and call her fat (she’s totes not and who gives a fuck if she is?!) while he laughs and encourages them, flirts and fucks a different hole each night and still from Angela...nothing....

She just walks away, doesn’t call him out on his shit. Goes where he tells her to go, wears what he tells her to wear and she reassures herself that she’s doing it for HIS dad, Brad, whose brilliant idea it was in the first place to marry two strangers with nothing in common.

What really touched me and why I gave this book 1 star, is from Brad’s point of view where he repeatedly says he is doing this all for Xavier, so his son can change for the better, be a real man and grow to love........PSYCHE! I can’t give 0 stars or take away stars so 1 fucking star it is.

Brad you motherfucker, you sacrificed this insecure, naive yet good hearted young woman putting her in a desperate position in the hopes that your little dick of a son can grow a pair? Uh-ah. It’s not a fucking woman’s job to make a man feel better about himself! It’s not a woman’s job to ‘mature’ these men, to help them act like a decent human being and to not treat women like cum buckets (that’s your fucking job, Brad!) It’s not a woman’s job to be arm candy to help a man impress and attract potential business partners (maybe, BRRRAAAADD, if you hired someone competent instead of relying on good old fucking nepotism, your company would be fucking fine!).

Turning point is when they’re on their ‘forced’ honeymoon (thanks again, Brad) and they crash on an island and Angela nurses an injured Xavier allowing him to see a softer side to her.

They’re rescued and back to their lives and our heroine still lets him treat her like garbage even when he finds out from his dad the truth about the arrangement. She still goes where she’s told, puts up with his hot/cold moods, his purposely flirting with their dance instructor because he liked that his wife was jealous (gold star for this hero) and even having him lust after one of his old fuck bunnies. I was so proud of him when he resisted temptation and didn’t fuck Peggy (or Penny??? I forget. There’s just so many names, so I’ll say hole number 6). He totally deserved a reward for resisting his baser instincts.

This guy’s a keeper and so is this book.

Download it from that awesome GALATEA app where a chapter a day, keeps the loneliness away! 👍

(Literally, you can only read a chapter a day or pay to skip forward. I strongly suggest you save your money and give towards the The Boys Initiative organisation as an alternative to forced marriage in helping young men develop skills and self-awareness to assist them in moving through life with confidence - so women like Angela don’t have to!)

Galatea: Not worth you money, time, or effort. Please do me the favor and save your money for an actual BOOK! Not chapters. A BOOK. Galatea, much like all other chapter a day books, are stupid and make you want to buy points for the next chapter. How many points does it take read the next chapter? 10. How many points do you get if you buy the smallest amount of points 40 for $3. You can do the math, that is only 4 chapters extra and IF you are only reading one book at a time. Seems legit. You can even call them and talk to them for 20 minutes and get 50 points (if you get through)! Wooooooooow! (If you can't read sarcasm I am sorry so let me put it this way: Galatea is a waste of money. To authors who use it: just publish you flipping book. I would buy your book as I do with so many others so why are you making your readers go through this ordeal? It not even an anime chapter book where you actually see characters interact with each other! It's just sounds added! You want sounds? Just play some music and support people. I read books on Wattpad and Webtoon because people are making the effort to write stories about subjects I love. And if they take it down and make into a REAL BOOK I can purchase? Then hell yeah! I am happy for them AND I will but it any other book that comes out next! Except Galatea, they are only after your money. Plain and simple.)

The arrangement: Okay I barely read the story (1 week in so maybe 6-7 chapters?) and I'm already frustrated with both main characters and even her (crappy) friend. Xavier, the "husband" is the literal definition of an ass. Xavier is just a overly used name for books. Its the stereotypical asshole but rich and dark and y kind of name. And I hate it. Why couldn't his name be Brad Junior? I think it would better suit him.... Actually, anytime I refer to him it will be Brad Junior. Brad Junior shaggs anyone who has a pair of legs and tits. He is too busy making Angela miserable like the twat that he is to notice that -helllllo?- she is too plain to want the money for just herself. Clearly there is intention but instead of finding out or bothering, let's make her life a living hell. Brad Junior style.

Brad is using Angela when honestly she is being used to undergo rich hell life. You think I care you are trying to make a better person out of your son with another strange woman? He screws them almost every night so how does she make the difference? Oh right she is innocent and good blah blah blah. Wouldn't that mean she is just easy to MANIPULATE? Get over yourself. Your wife did not give you a sign, and if she was going to, I would hope she was telling you that she is ready to beat her child to a pulp for mistreating people like he does. You may say that, that is the way of life with money? And I say that you can have money and have the decency to treat people the way you want to be treated. No excuse. So potato patato. Also, who freaking takes it as a sign from some random strange girl as the one that has to marry your son? She is just some rando in NY! If you had come up to me while my dad was going through what hers was going through, I would have told you to screw off. Why? It is non of your business what is happening to my family. In fact, that goes against Medical Privacy Laws? Sound familiar? Yeah I wouldn't need to marry your son at that point, I can just sue you for the money you were going to give me for my dad instead of going through hell to marry your son. (of course I would be screwed since he would obviously have the better lawyer but there is something called settling.... Pay for the hospital expenses for a couple of years seems reasonable.)

Angela.... what are you doing? Don't you have some kind of voice? Or I dont know, have the strength to say something to the father that dotes on his son. Probs wont work but it would have been SOMETHING. And if that didnt work, I dont know make an compromise and say hey "I dont want to be treated this way anymore. I can work at your business with something to do with my career and start me with a bonus because you son treated me like garbage and it will help with my dads tests and medical. No? Too easy? Typical. Angela would have been better off pretending that she is mute than to just go along with everything and then SOMETIMES have a voice when it is convenient. Also her friend pisses me off. She got money so what? She is still your friend and you are being are horrible person to just pull the rug from underneath her. Yes she doesn't know what is going on but they have been friends for how many years? I guess there was not friendship to begin with if it was that flimsy.

To conclude: I don't want a happy ending for these two, they don't need to be anywhere near each other and she needs a good ol' nice boy. You know the ones who make minimum wage or have photography hobby or loves football or something. Brad Junior is nothing but a child throwing temper tantrums and shoving his stick into any hole he can find. Brad is has his head stuck in the clouds and thinks he feels his dead wife during crucial moments. Angela is a wannabe mute and is "too nice" to stand up for herself and her friend can suck donkey balls. The only good character is her dad and he has been in hospital bed this entire time AND he has maybe 1 or 2 lines in the book so far...

And no, I do not plan on finishing the book. A book this bad and an app that is even worse is more than enough to convince me to put my time and money somewhere else, like OH! a book that has all the chapters and is available for me to purchase and read? How can I resist! G

Don't waste your time or your Galatea points. Seriously. Just don't.

*all the spoilers ahead*

Every character in this book is an idiot and selfish.

Xavier is a ginormous asshole. And just so disgusting. I get he didn't want to be married, but he screws every woman he encounters and flaunts it. He's cruel. And just so gross.

Then there's Angela. She keeps harping on about how she's not a gold digger, but she married Xavier to pay her father's medical bill's (aka marrying for money). Sure, it's noble, but it still is for money. And she's pathetic. Supposed to be innocent and good-hearted, but comes off as an idiot instead when she gets repeatedly duped. Oh and her father, supposedly cured of ASL and recovers from his strokes and heart attack.

The side characters are equally selfish and horrid. Angela's friend Em, horrid. Angela's friend, Dustin, horrid. They both backstab her or lie or act like shitty friends multiple times.
Angela's family is dumb when they trust paparazzi photos and clickbait news sites instead of asking their daughter. Brad had nice intentions, but ultimately was so manipulative.

Eventually Xavier and Angela seem to work it all out, though he was so gross I just cannot imagine why she wanted to be with him. But then, of course, more drama. He loses his position because he's a huge asshole and becomes a drunk who does nothing but drink. Angela becomes a bitch to her family and Zoe (her new assistant in event planning). She keeps her pregnancy a secret for 3 months, and doesn't even get a check up until she's a month along though she suspected it when it first happened (as written by the author saying she was going to show Xavier a positive pregnancy test, didn't, and a month later is at a prenatal doctor's appointment to "confirm" the pregnancy.)
Once Xavier finds out he gets understandably pissed. And Angela throws out an ultimatum. So, of course, Xavier spirals and ends up staying in Tokyo for a month before he gets into a car accident and is sent back to NY. Where they repair their crummy relationship. Oh and Angela's creepy ass obgyn hits on her and offers to attend Lamaze classes with her and she's just like, ok no big deal, let's do it. Because your obgyn usually takes that much interest in your care.

There were so many plot holes, so many stupid, idiotic moments and choices. It was so bad. But I had been opening new chapters without reading up until almost book 4, and once I started reading, it became apparent I wasted all of my time. So I just read everything up to book 5. And at this point I will not be waiting to release more chapters, especially since the 6th book isn't even all released yet. I can't believe the author is still writing this shitty story.

Book 5 ends with them having twins, son Ace, and daughter Amelia. I think that's a great place to just stop the madness and stupidity. Xavier was offered his CEO job back (another manipulation by his deceased father) but declined in favor for starting his own whiskey company. Great, let's just end this shitty book here.

Honestly it was a good ready. I wanted to keep going but I had already spent 30 dollars to keep going. I can't imagine spending more money to keep ready though and only reading one short short "chapter" per day is just nonsense to me. Tell really pull you in so you will keep spending your money.

DNF,

I would have finished it if it were all in one go, but it was taking too long with an episode a day

Agreed with very short chapter to read per day. Can't wait to get to the conclusion of the story. It would be nice if add another chapter, to make it two chapters a day. Just an opinion.

This book is intriguing me but the costs for this Galatea app are too high. Kindle unlimited is $9.99 for an entire month, unlimited books. This you get 1 chapter free a day and then you have to buy credits and that is per chapter and these chapters are on the small side. I will be deleting this app, it will be way to frustrating reading 1 chapter per day.

Spending ludicrous amounts of money to read a subpar book with poor editing and even worse character development. I applaud the business model and I like that the interface. You get the first 4 chapters for free and then you have to drag out the rest of the book for a month. I think I’ll delete the app instead of spending 30 dollars or 30 days for books that should be free.

There were a few moments when I found the female character very frustrating but that is just part of the story.

This will be a review of both the Galatea app and Book 1 of The Arrangement.

In summary (if you do not want to read the entire review below), DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

I had been seeing constant advertisements on Instagram for Galatea and their “romance” stories for quite some time and decided to “click the bait”, download the app, and see what it was all about.

The whole idea/experience of Galatea is utterly ridiculous. They draw you in by offering you a few (maybe 5?) free chapters to read. Then, if you would like to continue reading the story, you either A.) have to wait 24-35 hours to read the next chapter, B.) purchase points, or C.) do all of these tedious things like watching ads, scheduling a 20 minute feedback call with a member of the Galatea team, referring friends, etc. in order to gain more points. In a world where you can have any book you want by just tapping “Buy now with 1-Click”, why would anyone deal with these shenanigans?? LOL.

Another form of absurdity: As I was reading The Arrangement, they made an entire 2nd book (titled Private Lessons) available to me for free for 48 hours. I tried to go back to the Home page within the app so that I could get the reading of The Arrangement over with (I never DNF books even when they’re horrible - an unfortunate manifestation of my OCD I guess), but the app WOULD NOT LET ME GO BACK TO THE HOME PAGE AND LOCKED ME TO THIS SECOND STORY - the app is just as toxic and controlling as the men portrayed in their stories. Hmm… Ironic? 🤣 At this point, while laughing, I decided to just roll with it and see where this experience would lead me (SPOILER ALERT: It leads to writing this bad review and the eventual deletion of the app). I got through 17 chapters of the 2nd book within the 48 hours before… yes, you guessed it… the app barred me from chapters I already read plus the rest of the book, unless I chose to do any of the bothersome options I mentioned above. Is this a never ending cycle of abuse?? Most likely.

Which finally leads me to The Arrangement (Book 1): Juvenile writing, typos galore, a bizarre/comical plot, and nonsensical characters. There is such little interaction between the FMC (Angela) and the MMC (Xavier) - Angela actually interacts more with Xavier’s father, Brad - but in the interactions that they do have, Xavier almost always humiliates Angela. Infuriatingly, Angela never sticks up for herself. Not once! Xavier finally shows some inkling of kindness in the last chapter, which is obviously done in hopes that the reader will be sucked into Book 2. Not happening to this this girl, Galatea! 🙄

All of the above about The Arrangement can be said for Private Lessons Book 1, which is the first book I have ever DNFed in my life! Thanks a lot, Galatea. Off I go… back to reading actual books that are worthy of my time and money.✌🏻

Galatea - if your goal is to get quick cash from 'readers' but not hold onto them for the long haul you've done a great job. The points system to read beyond the 4 chapters is gimmicky. I can't imagine someone spending the $80+ dollars per year to read this rubbish. I got sucked into paying about $30 to read The Arrangement, ahead of the 1 chapter per 5 hours release - only to find the writing BEYOND TERRIBLE and the characters frustrating. At first the storyline seemed intriguing. I wasn't expecting literature - but at least intelligent romance. But then the writing just kept getting worse and worse. I mean it's like bottom of the barrel writing, cliche and corny, with sexist and misogynistic stereotypical story lines. It was the lowest common denominator of writing that I felt my brain cells deteriorating. I guess Galatea knows how crappy the writing is of the stories they offer - that they know they can't sustain loyalty- which is why their business model seems focused on people buying points for chapters. Definitely deleting this app. Hoping that someone offering intelligent writing and vying for customer loyalty might come up as a competitor in future - to this half baked app.

The book is not bad in story telling, but the characters suck, but the way the girl is a saint and super spoiled and scared of touch… it’s just too cringe…
And they guy is super toxic but somehow he’s portrayed as “hot”!!! He’s obsessive, possessive, rude, disrespectful and a literal asshole! How tf is that hot 😐 wouldn’t recommend.

Spent abt $30 so far and the 23 yr old virgin has still not slept with her 'husband'. Lame. Don't waste your time and money. The storyline has gotten so bad I'm just paying to skim over at this point to see if she's finally going to give the man what he wants. So dumb.

Read books 1-3 on the Galatea app. I enjoyed the character growth but unfortunately I don't like the series enough to read another 3 books (not because it's bad or anything, it's just not appealing to me atm).

One chapter every six hours, earn a few points a day
Watch 10 ads to get 20 points per day
Save up points to binge chapters

Is the story worth it? No
Does it pass the time? I guess

Don’t spend money on Galatea. Use it as a time filer between whatever else you’re reading.

So is there a way to actually read this book? Because Galatea is blowing me with this 1 Chapter a day, or you will spend $50-$75 just to read a book! This is crazy!!!!
