Why Kelly Clarkson Just Unexpectedly Revealed Her Heaviest Weight — and the Weight Loss Drug That Helped Her

Kelly Clarkson didn't plan to get as candid as she did on the most recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show — but her honesty knows no bounds.

After inviting guest Whoopi Goldberg onto the stage of the Monday, May 13, episode, Clarkson was struck by how young the 68-year-old EGOT winner looked. Their conversation quickly turned into a bonding moment over their individual weight loss journeys, with The View cohost revealing she has lost the weight of "almost two people," and Clarkson, 42, sharing for the first time that she has been using a weight loss drug.

"Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too, because my blood work got so bad," the "Since U Been Gone" singer told Goldberg.

"Do you know what's funny? OK, I didn't plan on talking about this," Clarkson continued. "I didn't see it."

The original American Idol explained that it was only watching back her 41st birthday performance at the Belasco Theatre in L.A. that she had a lightbulb moment.

"All of a sudden I paused it and I was like, 'Who the f*** is that?" she declared, as the audience laughed.

"You see it … and you're like, 'She's about to die of a heart attack,'" Clarkson added. "It's a weird thing … I never saw that. I was never insecure about it. I was happy. I just did not see it."

The "Heartbeat Song" singer further explained that her doctor "chased me for like two years. And I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.'"

"Everybody thinks it's Ozempic, it's not," Clarkson continued. "It's something else. It's something that aids in helping break down the sugar. My body doesn't do it right."

When Goldberg revealed her highest weight was around 300 lbs., Clarkson also got candid about the number on her scale.

"I was … like 203. And I'm 5'3 and a half," she noted.

But Clarkson couldn't have made her astonishment — as well as her happiness — any more clear.

"It's funny though, because people assume, 'She must have been miserable or depressed or whatever.'" And I was not!" she emphasized.

In fact, even though she had just been through a difficult divorce (from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares two kids), Clarkson was in the prime of her life, having just released her album Chemistry and even, apparently, with someone new in her bed.

When Goldberg tried to explain that it was harder to tell how much weight you've gained yourself "if you're not rolling over on somebody…," Clarkson interrupted her with another admission.

"I'mma be real with you … I was ridin' high with someone and I did not know!" she announced as the audience roared.
