Sorry if this is Corny but hope everyone had a good RSD.

Article

I had 3 on my list and I could’ve gotten all 3 but I only got 1 and it was the one I really wanted so I’m glad. Hope everyone got what they were looking for!

If posting something positive instead of spreading misery is "corny", then we should all be a lot more corny.

Yeah it’s just I’ve posted something like this before (different sub) and got roasted tryna see how everyone enjoyed this concert that I had went to. I just wanted to see how everyone’s night went 😭😭 idc tho I juss wanted to make sure yall wouldn’t roast me too😂

Hell yes!!

Got 5 out of 6 and the 6th was a “first” title so I should hopefully be able to get it at some point in the future.

I found 2 of the 3 I wanted! (Bf got Spawn.) I’m hoping to find the Air single online. Ladytron was the one I really wanted and was so glad to find it!!!

got spawn too, it was the only thing I wanted! one of the best soundtracks.

u/original_sinfluence avatar

That's awesome! I didn't expect to get anything since I didn't go until evening, but Ladytron was the only one I would have been stoked to find. They were sold out, but that's okay. I have other Ladytron albums and got to see them live once, so I feel blessed all the same.

My real goal was to surprise my daughter with rolling up to the record store and asking if she wanted to pick up the new Taylor Swift album. She's a swifty, so of course she did. We also got her a new record player since her old one died recently.

It felt good to support RSD in a different way this year, and to share my love of vinyl with my kiddo.

I'm hoping there are copies of Spawn left.

Not Corny at all! Glad you had a good RSD! I went a little overboard and got 4, but I am happy and had a great RSD!!

That's a thoughtful and considerate thing to say! Mine was a bummer. Had to work so I went on lunch and the two copies of Fleet Foxes - Live at Boston Harbor were bought. I really want it because I got to see the tour (Detroit) and it was phenomenal. I guess I could bite down and buy from the flippers, but I'm not going to. Glad for the shops and for all the people that found theirs 💙

Hopefully you can Wake up early and grab one tomorrow brother

My guy! Just set my alarm!

Good luck !!

We need to know how this story ends!

I'll let ya know in a couple minutes!

Legitimately got everything I really wanted and even had the wherewithal to put back something I wasn't excited about. Spent the rest of the day playing my new stuff (still have one more to listen through) and went to see a new movie 👍

Thanks OP, I hope you did too!! I was 7 for 7. My record store were brilliant getting their items in. Spent the rest of the day listening to my records and avoiding telling my mum how much I spent haha

Grabbed what I wanted!
Ashnikko - DemiDevil
Dio - last in line zoetrope
Bodysnatcher - Vile
witchfinder general- death penalty
At the gates - slaughter of the soul

Oh damn, I love Slaughter of the Soul. I still have a copy on CD

I got 6 out of the 10 I was looking for so I’d consider it a successful day!

Not corny at all. We need more of that.

My 5 findings plus fillers for the foto lol

Nice! None of the stores near me had The Love Reinvention

Frankly, this “corniness” is a welcome antidote to the cynicism and gatekeeping. I’m enjoying the Soft Cell remix album, and my daughter likes her Noah/Olivia split single. We wanted to pick up the Chappell Roan single as well but the store only had one and it was bought within the first 5 minutes of opening (we were 37 & 38 in line). A friend of my daughter’s bought it so at least we got to hold it for a few seconds. It was fun chatting to people in line and at least in Athens, GA, a beautiful morning to be outside.

It’s just I’ve posted something asking this in a artists sub how they enjoyed a concert that we had went to and I just got roasted for asking if they enjoyed the show 😭 so I just added the “hope this isn’t corny” so I didn’t get roasted for asking a simple question 😭

I got four I really wanted out of seven(not that I planned on getting all seven but that was my list) and two were the ones I wanted so bad so I’m really happy. I also got a non RSD release I didn’t know I’d ever be able to get.

u/Spacer1138 avatar

What was the non-RSD title!?

It was an OG Kate Bush Hounds of Love

I said release lol but I meant record. Sorry I’m tired although I guess technically it was a release in 1985😂😂😂

i had a really nice day! i showed up at 8am at got 2nd in line. waited for an hour and got everything i wanted! i got lily allen, wallows, the 1975, and Olivia! unfortunately my store didn’t have any copies of chapel roan but that’s ok! i spend a lot of money today! but worth it

u/Spacer1138 avatar

I got one on my hit list, the Lost In Translation OST. And three “discoveries” from thumbing through bins.

•Fetchin Bones - Cabin Flounder (included a hand drawn piece of art by Gary White as an insert!) LTD 500, exclusive.

•The Rain Parade - Emergency Third Rail Power Trip w/ bonus disc of rarities (the first LP of pre-Mazzy Star David Roback!!!), LTD 1000, exclusive

•Electrafixion - Burned (first ever vinyl release of a mid-90s Echo & the Bunnymen side project), LTD 2000, exclusive.

I wanted the Jeff Buckley & Gary Lucas LP… but didn’t find it. But it was an RSD First, so worst case scenario I’ll wait for a repress.

Did not get the only one I wanted, The Paper Kites :( but it was still a fun day, talked to some cool people, pet a cat who was hanging out at one of the local stores

I went for Buena Vista Social Club and At The Drive In and came out happy. Bought a bunch more records too. Pretty new to vinyl so I have a lot of gaps to fill. Found a Charles Mingus box set for less than half price, I'm more than happy with the day.

u/amazona_voladora avatar

I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty/luminous/molten the Buena Vista Social Club vinyl is :) And the booklet of liner notes/photos/lyrics and translations is *chef's kiss*

Agreed, it's an amazing record and they did a great job with this release! My partner had never heard of it, when I put it on she was blown away. Beautiful.

My city only had one record store that participated in RSD. They’re hands down the best store in town with the nicest owner. They posted days before with how many copies of each album they had. I had three that I wanted. They only had 2 copies of my most-wanted album. 5 copies of my second most wanted. And 3 copies of my third. I’m not insane or devoted enough to line up at 3am in 20-degree weather, but I showed up 10 minutes before they opened and waited outside for two hours before my turn. Unfortunately my first and third most-wanted records were sold out by then. Not surprised. But I rolled away with my second most-wanted, and I had a fun time taking part in the event, so I’m happy enough.

Got 9 of 10 great year

u/goshock avatar

I got the 9 on my list and 6 that my brother wanted and 2 that a coworker across the country couldn't find in his area. I spent way too much money but had a great time.

Got everything I wanted: and it was a long list! Was strong and even decided to put a few things back in the bin due to the high total cost. And even skipped a few due to cost. This was a very good RSD for me!

Not corny at all. I had to work so missed out and I don't anything I want will be available later but I'm still glad the day exists.

Never say never bro you’ll get your stuff eventually, I’d check out eBay and get whatever you missed out on rn before prices go even more up, or check plaidroom, there’s a bunch of todays releases that’ll be online tomorrow.

Thanks!

I went late and missed the crowds and RSD specific items, but I did get a couple records, so it was a good day. Cheers!

Only really wanted the Daft Punk one but the shop ran out of them while I was in line, which was a bummer :( but still managed to pick up some non-RSD records that I've been eyeing for a while. First ever RSD that I went to, I'd say it was successful despite not picking up anything from the event!

Don't forget to look around at websites early tomorrow for leftover stock

I had 4 on my list but got one of them only. Not bad considering how many of there were for it.

u/DoctorOctagonapus avatar

Got everything I wanted, although queueing for three hours was less fun.

I then went to a beer festival and drank a few beers so I didn't have to think about how much I'd just spent!

u/Csusmatt avatar

I went to the local shop around 4pm, didn’t even look for record store day stuff, but picked up Astral Weeks, The Queen Is Dead, and finally found a copy of Songs from the Big Chair!

Got all 3, even after a little mishap waiting outside of a record store that wasn’t participating for a couple of hours. Rushed over to the next nearest one and found Murder Was The Case, Soft Cell and The Who. Good day in the end

u/BahaMan69 avatar

I only got one secondhand this year. You win some and lose some. Just pray you don’t die before the next one 💀

Picked 1 of my top 3! Our record store was having a buy 3 used get 4 free, so spent the morning digging through used records while holding onto my grail. Good times!!

u/Pretty-Elevator6881 avatar

I had a great day. I got all 3 I wanted. I was worried about getting Dolores O’Riordan since there was only 600 pressed. My store only got one even though they ordered more. I snagged the only copy.

I got to RSD late and my picks were taken :(

3/4! Got these two which were my biggest, plus At the Gates Slaughter of the Soul. The one I missed out on was In Casino Out by At the Drive-in. Not too worried about finding one for a decent price sometime soon. Just gotta be patient

You wishing us a good day on RSD isn’t corny at all. Its nice to see some positivity. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did end up buying a Queensryche album instead of a RSD album. As always, I had fun shopping at my record store.

Thanks. Got some nice used stuff, including a Columbia two eye ‘68 Canadian pressing of “Cheap Thrills.”

I was just in the hospital for a week didn’t want to stand in line. So I went later in the afternoon and my local shop still had both releases I was after. Gorillaz and Joe Strummer. ftw.

Definitely a win, my bigger local shop had THE LONGEST line ever, I shoulda been more prepared since this was my first RSD, but I went literally down the street to a secret spot that said they weren’t doing the whole reservation and list thing, they just did first come first serve and this was LATE in the day, I walked in and immediately seen my 1 pick that I wanted and immediately snagged it.

I had a great one because I skipped it and went to a used LP pop up. Got thirty plus used jazz and soul records for forty bucks

u/TonyThePapyrus avatar

I didn’t get anything, because I ran out of space on my PS5, and got an external drive for it.

I also recently got the Music of The Lord Of The Rings, so I don’t wanna burn too big of a whole in my pocket

I slept in because I had an important day ahead of me that I didn't want to be tired for. That worked out, enjoyed my day. But was bummed I didn't get to participate this year. Woke up this morning and just briefly browsed a couple websites, and sure enough, both of the items I really wanted were available at Dark Side records so I ordered them both.

u/AerieExpensive1165 avatar

If its corny, that's ok, because positivity is always appreciated!! I couldn't go in-person, but a friend got me Laufey's symphony release and I just ordered Lola Kirke's Country Curious online (it wasn't even on my radar, but I thought the sleeve was so pretty when I saw it in leftovers that I had to listen to it on spotify and found out I quite liked it 😂 )

I didn't get my Lettuce record but I did get Rosetta Tharpe and snarky puppy.

I had a great one! Especially happy with the single from Hiqpy, up and coming band in the Netherlands. I stood in line for an hour (got in line half an hour before opening) and the cashier at the store said that if I had waited even three minutes more, she would've gotten the vinyl herself, so I'm happy that I got in line early 😅😂

Anyway, definitely check them out on YouTube if you like shoegaze and/or garage rock

3/4 for me, and I learned that 4th was delayed, so there is still a chance to get it!

u/SupTac0 avatar

Thanks OP! Did alright, got 3 out of 5. Really wanted a copy of Nat King Cole Live at the Blue Note Chicago but still keeping my eyes peeled.

The only store by me didn’t sell everything on the list. The only think on the list that they had that I was eyeing was Cheech and Chong. And I got the last one on the shelf. And it was a fun listen.

u/TreasurerAlex avatar

I got the 100 Gecs i was looking for, and had a pleasant morning with a cool group of people. 10/10 would do again.

u/fixedwithyou avatar

I went to a record store and did my normal thing. They weren’t participating, it was awesome

u/Morfiend_23 avatar

I had to watch my son but ended up getting almost everything I wanted online this morning for fair prices (Screaming Trees, Malfunkshun and Mudhoney). Hope to grab the Jeff Buckley record eventually as well.

Not corny at all! I managed to luck out and find all of the things my wife wanted and I still feel really good about it. All about feel good posts. =D

u/TheEvolutionOfCorn avatar

Thank you! I ended up getting 4/6 of the ones on my wishlist. Missing the pharaoh sanders 7 inch and the Motörhead.

Got all 5 I wanted 😁

u/theduffman avatar

Wanted Beatles online, got Beatles online. I’m happy.

Not corny at all I super appreciate that!! Sadly this was my "first" record store day after I started collecting about 3 months ago. I managed to somehow save NO money for it at all. My really good homie did cop me a handful of cds though so that was cool. Deff sad I missed out. Next year ima have to treat it like a real holiday. CAUSE IT IS. Lol. Hope everyone had a good one. Got some good stuff 🥰😎

It was my first also, I started collecting in November. I didn’t really save much either for the 3 that I wanted, but I did get 1 I didn’t really wanna miss out on it.

Wholesome ass post to start off this Monday morning. Hope you had a great one too!

u/Street-Penguin avatar

I went looking for 5 and ended up getting 3 of them and getting two regular records! It was my first RSD and It was nice I went after everything died down a bit around 3pm

Didn’t buy anything and I feel great! Was gonna go for the Team Sleep one cause that album was one of the first cds I ever bought but can’t really justify a $70+ including shipping price tag for one album. On that note if anyone knows where I can get a copy for ~50 lmk; even that seems steep but slightly more doable

Not corny! Mine was not that great. The line to get into the store was too long I never made it inside before I had to go to work. But I’m glad for the store there was a good turn out

I didn't get the one I was looking for Bummer Jim Croce live & all 4 stores were sold out!!! & with the prices that was skyrocketing through the roof with some of this stuff I put everything back that was on my list, But I took something I wasn't even looking for & not on my list The Meat puppets live (spending $35.00 more then I usually spend on a record.) I really find RSD a little sad one guy in a store near me said someone bought this RSD record when we had a used copy for $5.00 for me the record has to be rare like an unreleased concert or unreleased outtakes and demos for me to want to buy it But not for $40-$60. I just can't see my self paying that much! Sure I bought stuff in the past for some Bucks but those are far & few between. On my list I had the Doors live , Yes Live, a tribute to Lou Reed , Jim Croce live Which is the one I really wanted!! Grateful Dead live on my list but put them all back because of $$$. So sad! But give me a week it will haunt me & I might break down (if they still have any left) I might get one other RSD release other then the one I got. but with almost 5,000 Lps in my little place I really don't need anymore Sure it might be nice to have them But at those prices!!!

I don't think it was corny. I took out mi e and visited the past. Ain't anything corny about that, bro.

It was my first time at rsd and only been collecting a few months but I love what i got. *

There weren’t any albums I was interested in on the RSD list. I stayed home.

Had a good time, camped over night with mom, got my Chappell, got some other pretties on top of it, some of which might have to stay with me instead of go to their intended recipient but we'll see ...

I got what I was not looking for and am so happy about it. It was not on the RSD list for my country, so I did not know it was released at all, so I was very excited when I found FSOL - ISDN as a RSD special in the third record shop I visited that day. I nearly did not go there because the RSD releases I did know about I had bought in the first two stores. It's my favorite FSOL record. Really happy!
