Pessimistic by nature, Dead End rarely participates in the merrymaking of his fellow Decepticons. This self-serving scout will avoid any altercation if he can get away with it, kept in line only by his loyalty to Megatron.

An effective enforcer when given orders, Dead End has recently caught the eye of his tyrannical leader. Not that he's any better off for it; his new position serving alongside big bully Astrotrain might just be his worst gig yet.

During the Nemesis crew's search for the Allspark, Dead End was among the Decepticons who stayed on Cybertron to fight off Autobot forces. During the climatic battle against the Autobots after surviving the destruction of the Ark, Dead End knocked some Autobot soldiers about. Battle For Cybertron II

After the Great War ended in the Autobots' favor, Dead End was among the Transformers captured by the Quintessons, who outfitted them with control helmets that placed them in a simulation loop where they took part in a parade with varying differences each time. Dead End grew suspicious of his circumstances after Clobber mysteriously vanished and, after failing to convince Lockdown, transformed to break out of the simulation. After following Clobber and Hot Rod, he attacked the latter, suspecting that the Autobots were behind the hostile takeover. Their brief scuffle brought the attention of some nearby Prosecutors, forcing the group to relocate to Maccadam's. The Dead End

Finding that they were somehow safe inside, Dead End begrudgingly accompanied Perceptor in his investigation of the establishment, discovering that it is part of the War Titan Iaconus. The Sleeper Joined by a recently-escaped Whirl, Dead End and the other freed Cybertronians journeyed deeper into the establishment. After going through a rigorous training program and encountering the vicious Skullcruncher, the group was dissuaded by Maccadam from activating Iaconus, as an effort to stop the Titan's past violent rampage had taken the lives of its citizens minus the bartender. "Maybe I should change my name to 'No Outlet'..."

After several failed attempts to awaken Iaconus, it was determined that a cityspeaker was required, the group mounting a rescue mission to retrieve Windblade. Dead End and Clobber got separated from the others and stumbled across a barely-functional Soundwave, who had been improperly freed by Whirl. Taking Soundwave back to Maccadam's, Dead End wanted Soundwave to be abandoned but was objected by Soundwave himself. The Trial Dead End accompanied Soundwave in his attack on a Bailiff, noticing that Clobber attempting to assassinate Hot Rod would attract unwanted attention. After the prisoner was captured, Dead End accompanied the group down to the holding cell in time for Bailiff to reveal that the Scientist was the primary target. The Prisoner

Infiltrating the Scientist's compound, the group came upon an impregnable door which Soundwave opened long enough only for him and Hot Rod to pass through. Left on the other side, Dead End commented that Hot Rod and Soundwave can take care of themselves. The group tried futilely to blast the door down before Laserbeak arrived with the Loop's source code. Running back to control node, the group shut down the parade. The Scientist

Dead End grew annoyed with how the Cybertronians' attempts at combatting the Quintesson threat were going and convinced Megatron to seek power in other universes. Dead End was among the Transformers who infiltrated the Quintessons' command tower and battled copies of the Scientist. Dead End opened fire on Wheeljack before he followed Megatron into a ship containing the Quintessons' multiverse drive and left the universe for places unknown. The Judge

Arriving in an alternate timeline where the Decepticons won the Great War, Dead End helped Megatron free several Decepticons from the control of an entity known as "The Other One". Dead End waited with Astrotrain, to whom Dead End took an immediate dislike, while Megatron stole the Other One's Matrix of Leadership. When Megatron and the Insecticons returned under heavy fire, Astrotrain opened a portal to another universe and flew them through. Silent Strike

Dead End returned to his home dimension aboard Astrotrain in time to battle Judge Starscream. When they attempted to seal off the portal to unspace, Astrotrain and Dead End were seized by Croaton until Windblade removed the Quintesson influence from the Titan's mind. The day was saved when Megatron and Optimus Prime vanquished Judge Starscream using their Matrices and Astrotrain closed the portal. Dead End was later seen disembarking Astrotrain as Megatron met up with Optimus Prime. The End Of The Universe IV

When Bumblebee and Whirl infiltrated the Decepticon half of Cybertron in search of a comatose Windblade, Dead End was among the Decepticons who surrounded them. However, Optimus Prime was able to convince Megatron to release the trio, citing an Autobot held captive in Decepticon territory as treason. The Decepticons complied and let Bumblebee and Whirl go. Enemy Line

Dead End worked with Astrotrain to create a cannon that could weaponize unspace, using it against the Other One. After testing it on Jetfire and finding it to be faulty, they captured both Jetfire and Ratchet, intent on using them as test subjects. Rack'n'Ruin suddenly burst in and attacked Astrotrain until the randomly-firing unspace cannon hit a door, revealing Soundwave and Shadow Striker listening in. Fortunately for Dead End, Astrotrain overpowered Soundwave and Shadow Striker until he was hit by the cannon and sent to unspace. Dead End later witnessed Astrotrain's return and the Autobots' departure. Rack 'n' Ruin 'n' Ratchet

Dead End was interrogated by Soundwave and Shadow Striker as to what was up with Megatron's current behavior and fled the pair before running into the Autobots. He caught up with the Autobots just in time for a master race of Decepticons to beam in and surround everyone. Silent Strike

The invaders being identified as the Other One's Decepticon supersoldiers, Dead End indirectly inspired Astrotrain to open up a multiverse portal and fly away. Along with the other Decepticons, Dead End held off several supersoldiers. When the Other One eventually arrived, the Decepticons attempted to pledge their loyalty to said entity. However, the alternate Megatron laughed them off, citing the other Decepticons as being "unneeded". Dead End caught up with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in time to see Astrotrain take the Other One, having been defeated and immobilized by Optimus, off-universe and saw the larger Decepticon's "big plans" as being a terrible punishment for the tyrant. The Other One

Dead End was in the crowd celebrating the signing of the peace treaty between the Autobots and Decepticons. He was presumably frozen in time with the rest of Cybertron by Trypticon's Mercenaries, and restored to normal with the rest of Cybertron. The Immobilizers

Dead End watched Optimus battle a Decepticon supersoldier, as broadcast to the masses by Tarn. When Clobber, Wheeljack and Arcee were attacked by supersoldiers, Clobber called for Dead End, Wildwheel and Lockdown to help, but Wildwheel and Dead End stayed out of it. When the Autobots confronted Tarn at the Cube arena, Dead End was part of the army of Decepticons that surrounded them, but when Tarn ordered them to attack, they refused, joining the Autobots. When Shadow Striker was in trouble, Dead End dispatched the supersoldier attacking her. Following Soundwave’s sacrifice, Dead End looked on in shock. The Perfect Decepticon

Raise your hand if you're... unsure what you transform into.
  • Dead End (Scout Class, 2019)
  • Action Attack: "Sonic Upper Cut"
Part of the fifth wave of Cyberverse Scout Class toys, Dead End converts from a robot to a half-car-half-bot, called the "transformational mode". Rather than his normal cartoon face, he has his battle mask and visor deployed.
Like the rest of his Scout Class brethren, he features an Action Attack, the spring-loaded "Sonic Upper Cut", which raises his left arm when his right leg is swung up into "transformaional" position, but only after his torso has been swung into said mode. The uppercut can also be activated by a tiny switch on his back in either mode, hidden by the chunk of car hood.

  • Dead End (Tiny Turbo Changer, 2019)
  • Series: 3, 5
  • Bag code: D2 (Series 3), C (Series 5)
Part of the third wave of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, this Dead End is a soft-plastic 1.5-inch toy that does actually convert into a Cybertronian sports car. He has a pistol molded into his right hand, and again has the battle-mask-and-visor thing going on.
Series 3, as far as can be told, was never released in the US, appearing only in Canada, Germany, Norway and Taiwan. Fortunately, Dead End was re-released without changes in Series 5, which managed to hit US Target stores, at least for a brief while.

About time someone got me right.
  • Dead End (Warrior Class, 2021)
  • Accessories: Blaster
  • Action Attack: "Blitz Blast"
Part of the tenth wave of Cyberverse Warrior Class toys, Dead End converts from a robot to a Cybertronian sports car. He includes a blaster which can be pegged into either of his hands, or stored on either side of his vehicle mode.
His right arm automatically raises in a sort of quick-draw action, referred to as his "Blitz Blast" Action Attack, when his left arm is rotated downward, though he is engineered in such a way that his articulation is not hampered by the gimmick.

Notes

  • Dead End's design is influenced by his Generation 1 counterpart's Combiner Wars toy, notably visible in the shape of his chest, forearms, helmet, and backpack.
  • Dead End's color scheme, meanwhile, is taken from Revenge of the Fallen Dead End, which is especially noticeable with the battle mask he wears in the Season 3 opening intro, "Enemy Line", and "The Other One".
  • In Transformers: Battlegrounds, Dead End's design is a stylized version of G1 Dead End's original toy. He is also one of three named Deceptions to use the Decepticon Scout body-type. Dead End's color scheme is used for generic enemies, who are sometimes in the same mission as the real Dead End!
