Gente de Zona is one of the most famous Cuban reggaeton groups with a strong fan following both inside and outside of Cuba. Their music has captured the attention of the Caribbean and European Latino audience and has broken record sales online. Founded in 2000 by Alexander Delgado, Gente de Zona (GDZ), comes from the slang term for neighborhood people since its style of music is said to have been created to combine the rhythms of traditional Cuban music and blend their own style to attract the young audience.

Alexander Delgado, creator of the band (Gente de Zona), grew up in Alamar, Havana a little town located east of the Cuban capital. "At first there were only a few guys from our neighborhood, hence the name, we had no other, we were known as Gente de Zona ... when reggaeton arrived, it gave me the opportunity to put our letters in the streets by a commercial format ... I wanted to give music and dancing meaning. "

Gente de Zona was made up by Alexander Delgado and Michel (El Caro) at the beginning of the group’s career. Together the group promoted in the most diverse events where gender defended hip-hop, appearing in towns like Regla, Guanabacoa, and Alamar, places where this type of music is heard. For five years they expanded their pace until 2005, after “El Caro” left the group. Alexander joined Yosdany ("Jacob Forever") and Fernando Otero ("Nando Pro") enabling him to record his first album Pa La Gente De Mi Zona under the same name they placed their first hit single on national radio with other songs like ‘Le Gustan Los Artistas,’ ‘Soñe’ and ‘La Campaña’, making them find musical success on television and local radio.

With this wave of success would come the creation of three other albums: In 2007 Lo Mejor Que Suena Ahora, A Full in 2010 and Lo Nuevo y Lo Mejor in 2012. After this last phonogram in 2013 the group split leaving in command of Gente de Zona's Alexander Delgado while Jacob Forever and Nando Pro launched their joint project.

At this time the conditions for the introduction of a new member, Randy Martinez Malcom, then former member of the Cuban group, Charanga Habanera is conducive. To date, the new duo along with eight other musicians enjoy the prestige, recognition and popularity among the fans of the genre and the band’s followers. Parallel to their personal success, Gente D’Zona has collaborated with other well known and legendary bands of Cuban music such as Habana Primera, Orishas, and Charanga Habanera while releasing international collaborations with artists such as El Cata, and most recently in 2014 with Enrique Iglesias and Descemer Bueno with the song ‘Bailando’.

The single ‘Bailando’ also counted with an amazing music video filmed in the Dominican Republic under the direction of Alejandro Perez and the participation of ballerina, Lizt Alfonso alongside Enrique, Descemer, and GDZ.

The success of the single and its record breaking positioned them on top of the Latin music and crossover charts and has earned the duo 3 Latin Grammy awards, 3 Premios Lo Nuestro awards, 6 Latin Billboard nominations and opportunities to perform on some of the biggest stages in the world.

Gente de Zona are currently working on the finishing touches of their upcoming album, which is set to be released in the coming months.
