In this gallery, you'll find out about the fate of the original stars of 'Midsomer Murders', the series that has been a constant in many viewers' lives, whether led by actor John Nettles or his predecessor Neil Dudgeon. See what the former actors of 'Midsomer Murders' are up to today and how their careers have evolved since their time on the show.

John Nettles, who starred as the original Causton detective "DCI Tom Barnaby", left the drama in 2011. Since then, the 78-year-old has primarily focused on documentaries, hosting shows like 'Jack the Ripper: Reality and Myth', 'Shakespeare: The Legacy,' and 'Walks with My Dog'. He also served as the narrator for Channel 4's 'Devon and Cornwall' and remains the voice of BBC's 'My Unique B&B'. Nettles' latest acting role was in 2017 when he portrayed "Ray Penvenen" in the BBC romantic drama 'Poldark'

Since "DCI Tom Barnaby's" departure from Midsomer, his loving wife "Joyce", played by Jane Wymark, also bid farewell to the series in 2011. Following her time on 'Midsomer Murders', Jane appeared as "Catherine" in the miniseries 'Jo' and later took part in the National Theatre Live production of Medea. While she has remained out of the spotlight since then, Jane Wymark continues to lead a private life with her husband, Paul Howson, and their two sons.

After John Nettles' departure in 2011, Neil Dudgeon stepped in and became the face of 'Midsomer Murders'. Since then, he has continued to shine in the TV industry with appearances in shows like 'Silent Witness' and 'Life of Riley'.

Jason Hughes, known for his role as "DS Benjamin Jones" in 'Midsomer Murders', has continued to impress on the small screen. After an impressive six-season stint, he returned for a guest appearance in season 19 before bidding farewell to the series. Since then, Jason has made notable appearances in popular shows such as 'Death in Paradise', 'Three Girls', 'Marcella', and 'The Pact', showcasing his versatile talent and captivating performances.

Nick Hendrix plays the role of "Jamie", John's right-hand Detective Sergeant in 'Midsomer Murders'. He made his first appearance on the show in 'The Village that Rose from the Dead' in season 19. Earlier in his career, Nick achieved success in the theater and had small roles in shows like 'Black Mirror'. More recently, he gained recognition for his role in 'The Crown'. His impressive work also includes appearances in 'The White Queen', 'Call the Midwife', and 'The Christmas Ball'.

Actress Fiona Dolman portrays "Sarah Barnaby", DCI "John Barnaby's" wife in 'Midsomer Murders'. She joined the show alongside co-star Neil Dudgeon. Prior to her role in 'Midsomer Murders', Fiona appeared in popular shows like 'Waterloo Road', 'Heartbeat', 'In the Club', and 'Paradox'. She also featured in Channel 4's vampire serial 'Ultraviolet'. In 2019, Fiona achieved a personal milestone by successfully completing the London Marathon in memory of her father. Her dedication to the cause raised a substantial amount of money for Hospice UK, where she serves as an Ambassador.

Actor Gwilym Lee played "DS Charlie Nelson" in 'Midsomer Murders' from 2013 to 2016. He started his career in TV shows like 'Lewis, Waterloo Road', and 'Ashes to Ashes'. Recently, he gained fame for his role as guitarist "Brian May" in the acclaimed film 'Bohemian Rhapsody', earning an Academy Award nomination.

Annette Badland portrayed the witty pathologist "Fleur Perkins" in 'Midsomer Murders' latest series, which aired in January this year. With a background in theater, she gained fame for her roles in 'Doctor Who', 'EastEnders', and 'Outlander'. Her versatile performances have made her a well-known figure in the entertainment industry.
