Editorial Reviews
The vinyl box set includes all twelve of George's studio albums with exact replicas of the original release track listing and artwork. Also included in the box set are George's classic live album Live In Japan (2LP), and two 12' single picture discs of 'When We Was Fab' and 'I Got My Mind Set On You.' All the discs are 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and are housed in a high-quality two-piece rigid slipcase box. The original analogue master tapes were used for the new re-masters.

All records come in good quality inner sleeves to preserve the picture sleeves. Dead quiet andaaaa all the records came flat.
The sound quality is unbelievable.
At first I thought the set was a bit expensive but now I believe it is completely worth it.
If there was a con to this set is that it comes ONLY with music. Unlike The Beatles Stereo or Mono sets which came with a book.
That being said. That is not neccesary to enjoy this collection of master pieces.
And of course fantastic music
The L.P.'s are well-pressed by Optimal Media in Germany, and surfaces range from very quiet to totally quiet. even the two picture discs have quiet surfaces. the only manufacturing issue that i encountered is with the "When we Was Fab" picture disc. It was very warped, and the grooves were slightly off-center on one side. I'm lucky that my turntable (Technics SL-1210 Mk.2) was able to play it. Also, the box for the set had some factory damage at the upper right hand corner (visible on the front and on the top. Even though there was a factory carton(with styrofoam protective pieces) inside the amazon carton, the damage had already been done at the factory. I decided to live with it due to amazon's low price, which I obtained during a 48 hour sale. Exchanging could have brought something worse.
The album covers are generally accurate reproductions of the originals, and all photo or lyric inner sleeves are reproduced(though the records themselves are in plastic lined inner sleeves). Most of the label designs are (excepting revised copyright/publishing info) similar to the originals. There is, however a notable exception. Original Apple L.P.'s have a whole apple on "Side One" and a cut apple on "Side Two", but, for Sides 2 & 4 of "All Things Must Pass", the "B" sides have the whole apple(the "Side One" label design). This may have been done so that no one could pass off this edition as a 1970's original. But there are other ways to tell that this isn't a 1970's original (different type font and copyright information). My theory is that Apple Corps. decided that the 2010 edition came too close in reproducing the original(it had the correct labels, type font etc, and could only be distinuished from the original by the slightly thicker box). However, the 2010 edition was a poor pressing(courtesy of the dreaded Rainbo Records), whereas the new German pressing is superb.
The Music ?
Wonderwall Music (superb, often Indian flavored music with a psychedelic 1960's flavor.)
Electronic Sound (The key word is sound, not music. Actually, only one of the two pieces was actually performed by George Harrison. The other is by Los Angeles synthesizer artist Bernie Krause.)
All Things Must Pass (The triple album is George's solo masterpiece, containing 2 L.P.'s of songs stockpiled since the late 1960's and an L.P. of superstar instrumental jams)
Living In The Material world (the heavily spiritual lyric themes may have alienated some, but the melodies, arrangements and George's vocal and instrumental work are superb. Contains some his finest vocals ever. Even if you're not into Krishna consciousness, you can't question the sincerity.)
Dark Horse (the Beatles era was over, and from this point onwards, George's albums would be dominated by the L.A. sessionmen's sound. Not one of his better efforts due to George's hoarse, damaged voice, especially on "Ding Dong Ding dong" & "Dark Horse". The recording quality was murky and substandard,)
Extra Texture (Sound quality would no longer be an issue. The hoarseness of "Dark Horse" was gone, but George's voice was not yet back to full strength. A variable quality effort. "You" & This Guitar Can't Keep From Crying" are the best tracks.)
33 and a Third (George's first album for his own "Dark Horse" label. Another variable quality effort. As with "Extra Texture" good production concealed George's lack of vocal strength.)
George Harrison (A truly outstanding album with great songs such as "Love Comes to Everyone" , "Not Guilty" & "Blow Away". There's not a bad song, and George's voice is strong again, though slightly changed as he entered middle age.)
Somewhere in England (contains the hit "All Those Years Ago". Some funk and disco influence creeps in. The album suffers due to Warner Bros. executives, who rejected three songs, forcing George to record and submit replacement songs. The 3 rejected songs were stronger and truer to the George Harrison sound.)
Gone Troppo (Not a bad effort, but there's one real clunker; a doowop song performed by some of George's friends, that simply doesn't belong on a George Harrison album. The album's closing song "Circles" was originally written in 1968, but only existed as a home demo before.)
Cloud Nine (George's commercial comeback, superbly produced by ELO's Jeff Lynne. Includes the hits "When We Was Fab" and "Got My Mind Set on You".
Live in Japan ( A double live album from George's second and last post-Beatles tour. He's backed by Eric Clapton and his band. There was a brief falling out between George and Eric, hence the songs with lead vocals by Eric were not included. Previously, this album had been highly rare on vinyl)
Brainwashed (George's posthumous final album, with finishing touches added by Jeff Lynne and Dhani Harrison.)
There's also picture discs of "When We Was Fab" & "Got My Mind Set on You" with a few non-L.P. songs or versions.
Was there anything that could have been done to make this set more comprehensive? Yes. I would have welcomed a "Past Masters" type collection with the non-L.P. B-sides and CD bonus tracks. And it would have been appropriate to include a book with liner notes, photos etc.

This is one such box. The love for the artist and the respect for his music shines through. The box itself is quite stunning. The sleeves/inner sleeves are top notch and the records themselves come in poly-lined inners.
The vinyl is beautifully pressed; it’s flat and clean. Virtually no surface dust needed to be removed prior to playing.
And so to the sound. Faultless, no crackles or pops. I only had ATMP, Cloud 9 & Brainwashed before buying this set so there has been plenty of ‘new’ music for me to discover and I haven’t had the chance to immerse myself with multiple plays as yet. There are a few dud tracks here and there but that goes for anyone with a 10+ album back catalogue. Wonderwall was a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable.
The 2 picture discs were a nice bonus. A book, in a similar vein as the one in the Queen LP box set would have been marvellous. But it would seem churlish to deduct a star for this omission. The set is superb.
