One of the films that got rave reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was director Lisa Cholodenko’s (High Art, Laurel Canyon) The Kids Are All Right.  The film is about two teenage children Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Red Dawn) that decide to track down their donor father (Mark Ruffalo) as they were both conceived artificially by their two mothers (Annette Bening and Julianne Moore).  Once they locate him, their household will never be the same.

I saw the film the other week and absolutely loved it.  Filled with amazing performances and featuring a script that’s both honest and funny, The Kids Are All Right will absolutely get Annette Bening and Julianne Moore nominated for Awards at the end of the year.  Also, I’d be shocked if the script isn’t nominated.  Trust me, this is one of the best films I've seen this year.

With the film getting released this week, I got to interview writer/director Lisa Cholodenko. We talked about the script, what this year has been like for her, Sundance, and more.  Hit the jump to take a look and look for cast interviews tomorrow:

Lisa Cholodenko

  • Funny t-shirt talk
  • how much does she follow what people say online and the reviews
  • What was it like for her at Sundance
  • The script is awesome. I ask how much was added on set (improv) and how much was already there
  • What is she going to do next
