How to enable/activate Nvidia GeForce RTX instead of AMD Radeon Graphics in the same notebook? - Hardware - openSUSE Forums
openSUSE Forums
My new game notebook comes with an AMD Rayzen 7 4800H CPU integrated with Radeon Graphics, it also equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. The notebook originally was pre-installed a Windows 10 pro by the vendor but I has since installed openSUSE Tumbleweed instead. The problem is that the notebook runs on the AMD Radeon Graphics by default since it’s installed Tumbleweed, and can’t seem to activate/use the GeForce RTX graphics card although I did install all necessary nvidia drivers via various depos. I even tried to install Nvidia driver package downloaded directly from its website but it shows the system had already installed the driver named nvidia-gfxG05-kmp. Also, the Mesa-dri-nouveau was not installed and nouveau is blacklisted on 50-blacklist.conf. So my question is how to activate and use Nvidia GeForce graphics card instead of the Radeon Graphics integrated with the CPU?, Originally in the pre-installed Windows 10 pro, it had to download an app named GeForce Experience to enable the GeForce card, and what to do in the openSUSE case?
It turns out I’ve installed the wrong script suse-prime-bbswitch, it should be suse-prime installed instead. Now my notebook boots with the Nvidia GeForce card!
I actually had already installed all necessary Nvidia drivers but also installed the wrong script suse-prime-bbswitch from Yast instead of suse-prime. Now after suse-prime-bbswitch uninstalled and suse-prime installed correctly, just issued
sudo prime-select nvidia
and logout or reboot, the notebook boots with the Nvidia GeForce card correctly!
