- Bird D12 contributionsVery interesting rock formations, the lights were a bit over the top but looked cool anyways. There was a tour but I did not pay attention, sure it was great tho. Nice to see where they filmed the dragon palace for the monkey king tv show.
Also, I went in 2019 but the site won't let me select that ripWritten January 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The two Chinese pagodas are elegant and encompassing. The sun and moon towers are actually of different colors. Explore the park on foot and you can easily bypass the tour groups on the river cruise.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada7,272 contributionsWe walked around the area during the day and did the night cruise in the evening. You can book tickets near the sun and moon pagoda and they will let you know where to board the boat. The cruise is quite expensive at 210 each but you will go under many of the bridges in the area, go in two canals and see lots of the buildings and banks lit up at night. We had a full boat so had troubles seeing outside the cabin at the beginning but we lucked out when they allowed us out on the boat deck at the stern because it was too cold for many people. We got good photos on the water but you can get a similar experience walking through the area as well and take your time doing it! If we were to do this area again we would walk around at night as it is prettier at night and free to walk around.Written October 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard WModesto, CA107 contributionsGuilin was a unique experience my wife and I both enjoyed and still talk about months later. We walked the district examined a traditional pagoda style building commemorating the city during the day. After dinner we had a relaxing walk through the park amid the trees and ponds. It can be romantic. Food is always plentiful and high quality.Written October 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel ABeijing, China35,141 contributionsFrom our hotel, we were close to the Sun and Moon Pagodas. The difference in atmosphere and memorability are significantly more enjoyable in the evening. I’d recommend a visit after visiting East/West Street. The night air, while still brutal were manageable in the evening. The Pagodas are nicely lit in the evening and much more picturesque. Nearby, there are street vendors and musicians making the ambiance of the attraction ideal.Written August 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angie PSingapore, Singapore94 contributionsWe had to kill half a day in Guilin so decided to visit the elephant trunk hill. The walk there in the morning was pleasant in the cold winter air. Crowded with tourists taking photos. There is a little hill within the park. Views from the peak was good, but climb up can be challenging for the young and the elderly. Would recommend if you have ample time to spare, but can skip if rushed for time.Written December 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada7,272 contributionsIt seemed like much of the area at the top was closed for maintenance so we enjoyed the gondola ride more than the actual mountain. The views at the top are very good and you can see the city and many of the mountain formations from the top.
The gondola costs 55 one way or 110 round trip. We took the round trip because the hike to the top looked steep and undermaintained.Written October 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Enjoy the best view of Li River, some breeze in a hot city, some ancient stone inscriptions and a ¥10 mountain slide. Local post-rock band “Misswoman” wrote a beautiful song “Dié Cai” for this mountain.Written March 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
