Nanri Yūka is not known to have voiced many famous characters, but that is mostly because she was a singer by the name Yuuka.

Her most famous song was actually Akatsuki no Kuruma from Gundam Seed, the most, I mean THE most famous song in the entire Gundam Seed franchise and perhaps Gundam in total.

The choices of her voicing Theresa add a special layer of irony if you know the story background behind this most famous song.

Can you clarify, for someone who is not familiar with the Gundam franchise, please?

The story is quite complex, but to summarized:

This song first played at the turning point of the story, when one of the heroine Cagalli had to abandon her home nation Orb on Earth to retreat into space after being under siege from enemy.

It was just before their escape, her adopted father, the ruler of Orb first reveals Cagalli's true identity to her and stayed behind to cover their escape. Her father left the ideal of Orb with her and self destruct to prevent the technologies from Orb from bing used by the enemy.

I just hope "Theresa" (more like the conciousness of the crown) has a personality like theresa herself. I want s cheerful character...

I mean its name is litterally "Civilight Eterna" so its obvious as day that its the conciousness of the crown, heck even they say that "its Theresa but isnt Theresa" wich implies it.

Real theresa is dead :(

Real theresa would have no reason to have such codename tough. It wouldnt make any sense

Also i love theresa but Eterna seems to be acking... monotone? I hope it isnt like that but...

TBH SEED/CE as a whole isnt even that depressive(and usually ended on a hopeful note) considering in Gundam we have

MC literally is mentally broken and became a vegetable while 80% of his allies are dead

An average pilot who saw his friends either become a cyber newtype subject or died to an angry defective clone and is now the only one alive and only got talked out of going full "Theres no point in living" due to SORE DEMO

A pilot who developed a relationship with another pilot from the other faction but they did not know each other tried to save a colony from getting nuked and had to fight said other pilot without even knowing that whatever he did was futile and wasnt needed because it was not in danger of getting nuked anymore and he became a cheeseburger after the fight

And so and on
