NFA has a lot of great programs that help students graduate with trade schools in case they don’t pursue college. I am grateful for these trades. But this district in general needs to raise the bar with their curriculum and college readiness. There are a lot of programs for students who want to graduate with some college credit and that’s a plus. One thing I would change would be to make stricter rules for students who are repeat offenders and fight in school.
Newburgh Free Academy-Main Campus is a very artsy and diverse community. They focus more on arts and sports than anything else and thus if you are looking for a school with good math and science development courses for college preparations then this may not be a school for you. They do offer college courses but these are limited and hard to get into. This school is not at all the safest place to be because of how adminastration works with bad and violent behavior. it is too easy to get away with such harmful acts hence in my eyes this is a very dangerous school.
I really like NFA however based on many of my experiences and others I feel as though our administration rather hide the problems that happen at our school instead of fixing them. There were many dangerous incidents in our school that happened that many people don’t know about and instead of enforcing rules to prevent it from happening again they use their money to buy yonder pouches. Instead of punishing students that do wrong, they suspend them for one day and they come back the next. While NFA has a lot of programs to offer for their students, the administration provides little opportunity and funding for these programs and in some cases, makes it very hard for students to even take these classes.
