Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor step down as heads of Alt Balaji, announced Vivek Koka as Chief Business Officer

Ektaa Kapoor is one of the most well-known faces in the industry, having led her production house Balaji Telefilms to helm several mega serials on television. Ekta had also cofounded Alt Balaji to produce web series and original films, with her mother Shobha Kapoor in 2017. As per the latest press release, Ektaa and Shobha are both stepping down from their positions at Alt Balaji. The announcement took many by surprise. As per the press release posted by Alt Balaji, it reads, "AltBalaji, one of India's leading digital entertainment platforms, officially announced today that Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor have stepped down from their positions as the heads of the company. While the process of stepping down started last year, Alt Balaji now has a team to take over. This decision is a strategic one to focus on their ventures."

In the same post, Alt Balaji also announced that Vivek Koka will be taking over as the company’s new Chief Business Officer. "The company is pleased to announce that Vivek Koka has been appointed as the new Chief BUsiness Officer of Alt Balaji. Under Mr. Koka's leadership, Alt Balaji aims to follow their footsteps and continue its strong track record of delivering high-quality, original content to its audiences." concluded the statement.

Taking to Instagram, Ektaa shared the announcement and wrote, “Good luck team #alt. Will always share ur posts and lend any support needed! Let’s welcome the new management.” Alt Balaji falls under Ektaa and her mother Shobha’s Balaji empire, which also consists of Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures as well. Alt Balaji has produced shows like XXX and Gandii Baat. Reacting to Ektaa's post, Sonam Kapoor commented: "You're the best... Love you." Sussane Khan also commented, "To greater conquest my friend full power to you and Alt Balaji to grow bigger and stronger (heart emoticons)" Many commented whether Gandii Baat and the sequel to Lock Upp will be announced or not.
