This is a brilliant part of London. We spent the day walking around Abney Park Cemetery - its gothic chapel has recently been restored - and we went to Woodberry Wetlands, a really beautiful nature reserve. Stoke Newington is in Zone 2 but there's so much green space. The book shop on the High St is brilliant, Rouge and Earlybird cards have some gorgeous things. We had a delicious roast at the Three Crowns. There's a lovely community vibe here. It's a really special place to visit! Check out the See you in Stokey website for ideas of where to go and what to do here.

Who actually is running Stoke Newington in 2024?
If Diane Abbot is still the Main Local MP for Stoke Newington ( SORRY!) She is not doing a very good job role for this local North London Constituency Area.
I have lived in the Area for most of my life.
I grew up here in the 1970s, and many of the views look the same as they did in the mid 1970's.
There is a old church on Church Street, that has been here since 1066, and it is not even a tourist attraction for the area. You can't even read its noticeboard properly, because NOBODY HAD EVEN BOTHERED TO PAINT OVER THIS VERY OLD BOARD Near the old St Mary's Church.
I went to St Mary's Church of England School and had assemblies in this old church, and it really saddens and sickens me, that this pre- historic church has been really forgotten about in this local community.
The buildings on the High Street and Church Street look filthy dirty.
The pavements on the walking paths ( high street and church street) are the worst kind of pavements I have seen from ANY London Borough, with broken pavements that move as you walk over them.
Tree branches that brush into your path, while you are walking around the area.
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS N16 Borough.
Many people who live here carry-on like these issues don't even matter.
This is the 21st Century, and there are MANY AREAS IN HACKNEY that look the same as circa 1977.
Lower Clapton Road looks like, regentification has NEVER even entered into the area.
There are so many areas where Trees are blocking out natural sunlight, make people who live in these areas feel claustrophobic and depressed.
Do you as a citizen of the place where you live SERIOUSLY understand who even looks after the trees where you live?
Nobody in government in this country even tells you as a citizen who even looks after the trees where you live.
There is a very big difference for trees that are cared for on your main road, and trees that are care for in a block of flats.
Why are politicians of local areas ALL OVER LONDON, not giving the general public the vital statistics and vital info we need in the AREAS WHERE WE ALL LIVE?
THIS IS ALL CRAZY!
WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Today I ate lunch at the Albion Kitchen In Albion Road. It is a very, very friendly and nice family-run cafe with pavement tables specialising in traditional cafe food and Turkish specialities. My halloumi wrap and freshly pressed apple and carrot juice could not have been more delicious and we finished with home made chocolate and biscuit pudding. Much to be recommended.

Much nicer place than it used to be years ago. I remember it back then - it was sinister and scummy. Much improved with lots of places to eat and parks to visit. It’s people that make an area what it is really, isn’t it.

I remember times when you had to watch your wallet getting off the overground train.
Not much has changed, Yardies were replaced by yummy-mummies and diesel bykes (sic) in this over-priced white enclave of Englishness. Walk down Church Street stuffy pretentious and overpriced baby boutique shops, designed to ease the pain of parting with you cash... unlike the good old days when Stokey(‘sic) was still a ghetto.
LGBT confused friendly.

Party of five people have enjoyed a most delicious meal at this restaurant in Church
Street that by all accounts is a newcomer to the area.
If you like your soup hot and spicy then the Namaste's Rasam soup would take some
beating.
The staff were attentive and courteous and were only too pleased to offer advice.

Great Spanish tapas restaurant with lovely welcoming staff. Quality of the food is great. Not huge helpings so not for those who prefer quantity over quality.
