What's the best day trader conference?

  1. The one that seems to pop up most in a Google search the most is TraderExpo

Best one is 10,000 hours behind your screen, I have wasted way too much money going to these Expo's, nice to get away and take off your taxes, but for actually getting much useful, buy a couple books by John Hill late 1970s or Understanding Price Action by Bob Volman

Same here. I love socializing with successful retail traders but a lot of their stories are exaggerated or outright BS. Not bad for a weekend getaway and you never know who you might befriend :) Last I checked there are one's in Las Vegas and Florida.

I had always found old "dog and pony" show, you have to pay to see them, and they never going to give you much of any good stuff they have, so you either have to buy the course or by the month, then say "there is nothing new in this crap".. But always love going to Vegas, as an excuse to go... You go to few of them, you feel like you at worst flea markets.. I rather upgrade my room, stay couple extra days, buy a new book to pretend am reading at the pool.

Takes time and in the end, you have to think what is beyond most books.

  5. Las Vegas and Florida...locations for hosting day trading conferences/expo's...the irony
...those were two of the hardest hit places of the great Housing market bubble gamble booms/crashes o_O:confused:; many people will inevitably lose their shirts

Trader Expo is a joke. Go to one, once and you'll wonder why you paid anything. Meet Tom Sosnoff. lol Guy is an attention whore and will show up in someone's driveway if there's a flashlight on him. lol. Or the other cast of Super Traders like John Carter or that hick down in Alabama. Who cares? Trader Expo's are brokerages and trading scams looking for red meat. If you need an excuse to gamble or go to a strip club, just man up and go to Vegas.

That is a totally true statement. I mean, the trade shows simply bring together traders, teachers and vendors all in one venue. We literally do the same thing every day on this site, just without requiring everybody to spend thousands of dollars in travel expenses. Oh, and there's no goofy salespeople here standing around in suits like there are at trade shows. I never understood why vendors put suits on when it's blatantly obvious that traders are about the most laid back crowd ever. We used to host after-hours parties at various Expos and would have 400+ people show up and I can't recall ever seeing a single trader in formalwear. But hey, maybe that's the type of crowd that shows up when you offer free booze and T-shirts. :D

I've been to investment/trading thingy in Sydney... what a waste of time.

About 90% were over 60 looking for the pot of gold trading scheme. 8% were people/vendors trying to flog their pot of gold trading scheme... The rest was staff/waiters etc and maybe a handful of people that actually know what they're doing...

I think I stayed for an hour. Had a discussion with one of the vendors, which was a good laugh for obvious reasons... that was it for me... I didn't have high hopes, but it didn't even reach that point.
