Many hotels, including those in the same hotel chain, found it hard to maintain its high standard after the pandemic. Many experienced staff had left or changed work. We were very glad that the Horizon Club at the Shangri-la Hotel in Tianjin had kept everything up to the highest standard. Tianjin is a beautiful city and is only half an hour ride on the high speed rail from Beijing. We took a short visit, and we like this city and its people a lot. We will revisit this place and stay at this hotel again.

I finally was able to escape the capital and travel to Tianjin. It has been way too long since my last visit to Tianjin because of Covid. I had a very enjoyable boys weekend at the Shangrila. It was fantastic!!! We actually arrived early and were allowed to check in early. (thank you!!) The original suite was not ready so they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom apartment room. This was fantastic, because it allowed my friend and I to have separate rooms with a shared living room. We also had a phenomenal view of Tianjin. The best view in Tianjin in my opinion. (Unobstructed View). The lounge was open as was the pool. Professional staff, and great service. I personally had a wonderful sleep for those 2 nights. The location is close to the train station and downtown. I actually got a massage at the hotel too, more on that in another review. To be frank, very nice and extremely peaceful. Even though there is a global pandemic the Shangrila Tianjin maintained the highest standards of cleaning and disinfection. Even the buffet breakfast was well prepared for crowds and minimizing any risks. The best thing was the dining room was spread out and allowed for a good distance between other diners. There is a reason they are number one, because they simply are the best. Highly recommended! Next time you are in Tianjin I’ll see you at the Shangrila!

I booked a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen on my recent visit as I wanted to welcome some friends to celebrate my birthday. It is a fully functional kitchen and I was able to prepare all the canapés with a friend. It really had a homely feel to it, and when I needed something within reason, housekeeping was kind to oblige. Lamorak and Viki were especially helpful, and helpful with a smile. Thank you to them. I had requested up to 50 different wine glasses, plates and a few other useful bits and these were provided. The 96SQM apartment meant that my 16 guests were comfortable, also having a homely dinner party in a luxurious setting. It was an evening that will stay with me for a long time. The next morning, I enjoyed. a champagne breakfast in the club room (you can order champagne from the hotel beverage list at additional cost) . The view from the 32nd floor lounge, the highest club lounge in the city, offered sweeping views of the city and the Hai River - not a bad way to spend breakfast. While the whole Lounge staff was excellent, special mention must be made of Vien who took great care of our table of 4. Much appreciated. Finally, a huge thank you to Sam, the Director of Rooms, and his team, especially Omi. The service provided pre-arrival to one of my guests who had special needs is of the best I have experienced ever. Their unofficial 'If it is possible, we will do it' motto should be trademarked!Overall, a brilliant stay with typical Shangri-La hospitality.

There is really nothing more to say about this hotel and staff except that they are excellent. Be it check-in and check-out process, rooms, wifi, breakfast, restaurants, spa....they just excel in the service they provide to their guests.
We stayed here for three nights during the busy May holiday when the hotel was full, but this in no way affected their excellent level of service.
The hotel is in a great river side location, just a few minutes away from all attractions in Tianjin. Great room with nice view of the river. Excellent breakfast with a lot of choice. We had dinner twice at the Chinese restaurant (Shang Palace) which was great.
I fully recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tianjin for business or vacation.

We often don’t take into account the importance of charity and giving back especially during this challenging year of 2020. I must say, that the Shangri La Tianjin really embodies the spirit of giving back to the local community. I was delighted to be guest at the VIP table of CFFC’s (Chi Fan For Charity) the first ever event in Tianjin. The Shangri La Tianjin donated a table for 10 pax with a 6 course dinner and wine pairing in the Horizon Lounge. The tickets were sold, and the funds from the tickets went to charity in Tianjin (benefiting disabled children). No other hotels took part in this event (I was told), and Shangri La Tianjin even donated a raffle prize of a weekend stay in a suite for 2 pax (unfortunately I didn’t win). I actually came in from Beijing with my friend to support this great cause and we ended up staying the weekend at the Shangri La. There is something about this hotel that makes it special. It’s hard to properly put it into words. This is not your average hotel, it is a staple in the community. The staff were friendly, happy, I could tell they were smiling 9under their masks). Everyone has been so miserable under COVID that it was great to see people enjoying life and doing something for the community. I had the pleasure of meeting Jason (the GM) and he really brings the sense of community to the hotel, he’s actually quite well known and respected in the local community. Staying at this hotel is its real and genuine, there is nothing artificial about it. We stayed on the 22nd floor and the view was spectacular. We were lucky it was a beautiful weekend in Tianjin, it was crystal clear. Excellent breakfast if you stay in the club lounge, they have a special breakfast set (where you have buffet and made to order items). Definitely take the upgrade, and make sure you check it out at night, the best views in Tianjin. It was an honor to be at this dinner and it was a pleasure to stay at the hotel. Highly Recommended, I will certainly be coming back again soon!

The location for shopping and restaurant are very convenient. Hai He River view outside of window both day and night are very vey beautiful. The service is the best, all the staffs are very friendly. The breakfast is tasted very good, and in this special virus time, the service is very detail for protect the customer. (See the second picture). The very important thing, the bed is such comfortable. It was so good experience to stay in Tianjin Shangri la hotel.

Another fabulous stay at my home away from home. 1. My room, a one bedroom apartment, came with a fully fitted kitchen, perfect for a long stay. The living room too, was spacious, with a dining table and 4 chairs included. I need to come back! 2. Full sized L'Occitane toiletries are one of the added benefits which I appreciate. 3. Staff in the Club Lounge are consistently good. Sophia is very good at remembering the small things that matter. Emma, new, is supremely confident, speaks perfect English and is perfect for foreign guests. Johnson was so passionate with his cocktails. Make sure you book a Club room or one of the suites. It is totally worth it. 4. The SPA - magical. A shout out to my therapist Lucy who gave me a memorable facial. Overall, signature Shangr-La warmth and service paired with great value for money.

Shangri-la hotel located in heart of Tianjin can offer comfortable stay, perfect service and magical Haihe river view.
We were impressed with beautiful, spacious room and warm welcome from hotel personnel. Food options are delicious and rich even in current difficult times - we can only recommend Café Yun and Horizon club. Hotel gym is clean, spacious, with natural light, and include all, what we needed for our training.
This stay makes my last weeks in Tianjin before travel back to Europe wonderful experience.

Our stay purpose was for settling in at Tianjin. Even though we arrived at the COVID19 period we felt at any moment very safe. SLTJ team provided us a warm and heartily welcome as well as a perfectly preparation and setup of our room. The team considered everything we need for our 9 month old baby as well as a lovely welcome greeting with customized chocolate and our sweets reflecting the TJ eye. The location of the hotel is just perfect, there’s a high level mall right next to the hotel with plenty of choices for restaurants and lifestyle. Lovers of HeyTea or Starbucks will enjoy that both shops are right next to the hotel. The view and surrounding area is just lovely. We enjoyed watching the night view of the canal as well as having a walk along the canal during the day. For us it was a wonderful stay and the best possible way to settle in at our new home Tianjin. We will definitely regularly coming back to Shangri-La Tianjin, especially to enjoy their high class Chinese restaurant and the warm hearted top service of the whole Shangri-La Tianjin team. Being a great fan of Shangri-La group I stayed again in Tianjin for the first time but disappointed. Reception staff were not well trained. They have swiped my card although everything was paid in advance. No place to sit in the lobby as every table was assigned the word RESERVED so very difficult to manage the meeting with my customer. Rooms are not very flashy and lights are dull. Breakfast has less variety and some how the distance between the food and sittings was too far.
