Growing in Mobile I have been able to experience all the great things of the city. From Mardi Gras to the pecan and strawberry festivles to the Greater Gulf State Fair, Mobile has plenty family friendly events all year round. I wouldn't plan to start my family anywhere else! Being only an hour from three different beaches is another plus that comes with living in this city.
Mobile is a really lovely city, especially in its historic areas, but what I love about Mobile is its diversity. With people of many different backgrounds, religions, and races, there is so much culture to immerse in. It is rooted in many traditions such as Mardi Gras and the Azaelea Trail for people to take part in. In mobile, I have also come to appreciate how large the city is and how different each part of it is. You can go from the downtown town area filled with music and liveliness, to the rural, country areas in a 30-minute drive. Of course, as every city does, Mobile has its flaws. In my opinion, the number one thing the city could improve upon is education. While I attended private school my whole life, I had many friends who attended public schools near me, and it was sad to see how poor our public education system is. My family decided to put me in Catholic education just to avoid the public school system her. I love this city, but I hope one day it has better schooling.
I have been in Mobile for most of my life and even after traveling and living in some other places, I don't think I plan on leaving this city. The nightlife is very vibrant and there are lots of community events and things to do like art walk, small concerts at the Soul Kitchen or Mardigrass, and related events. Mobile has a rich history and lots of opportunities and someone is always hiring. If for some reason you'd want to find more adventures Mobile is nicely located less than two hours away from areas like Pensacola, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Gulf Shores so there's always an event spot or beach nearby. I would say most areas are relatively safe but mobile does need some improvement in that area. I've personally witnessed several things but somehow it hasn't scared me off yet.
