Penny Davidi 'wasn't the right fit' for Vanderpump sandwich shop

Penny Davidi has been known to appear on Vanderpump Rules here and there, and she’s also starred on more reality TV shows including Next Food Network Star. Nowadays, rumors are swirling when it comes to Penny and Pump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney.

Bravolebrities Ariana and Katie are set to open their sandwich shop, Something About Her, soon. Fans have been waiting a seriously long time to chow down on some savoury snacks but there’s still no concrete opening date. Katie and Ariana are living out their entrepreneurial dreams as they bring to life a European-inspired eatery complete with window seats they always dreamt of sitting at in their younger years. They assure fans the doors will open at some point.

Penny’s Vanderpump Rules ‘drama’

According to an exclusive report from The US Sun, any rumors suggesting Penny has anything to do with Something About Her’s delay in opening is baseless.

The chef consultant appeared in Vanderpump Rules season 10 and was helping Ariana and Katie get their vision going.

When she entered the shop on VP Rules, Penny commented on the “high ceilings,” adding how the space had “such good energy,” she said it was “so charming,” and took one look at the kitchen before being “flooded with ideas.”

Penny was the Something About Her COO. But, speaking on an episode of Two T’s Presents: Popping Off this April, Katie explained: “If it was solely up to us we would have opened by now.”

But, she added the whole process was taking a lot of time because of “permits,” and “applications.”

Taking to a Reddit thread, some Pump Rules fans claimed Penny was “obnoxious” back in the day. More said they were “cringing” at the chef being on board.

Speaking of Penny, Katie didn’t have any negative comments to make. She explained: “No, we’re not working with Penny any longer. We loved working with Penny, Penny was great. But, ultimately, it wasn’t the right fit.”

No beef with Penny

When consultant chef Penny was lending her expertise to Ariana and Katie, she complimented the ladies on their sandwiches and appeared full of ideas for the shop.

She said: “I want to have my team in here at five, so we can prepare each one at a time, I want you to kind of introduce it. This is our Greek goddess, which I love by the way,” adding how the sandwich was “delicious.”

Katie and Ariana said they “weren’t afraid to ask professionals for help,” but now it appears they’ve cut ties with Food Network star Penny.

Penny’s husband, Jonathan, told The US Sun: “Penny remains a supporter of the restaurant and would love to help in any way that she can for the restaurant to open at the earliest possible time and then for it to be successful.”

‘Opening was out of our hands’

Defending the delays around Something About Her opening, Katie Maloney told E! News this April how it “was out of our hands.”

She explained how a whole patio had to be ripped out, and all kinds of new features had to be installed such as an “awning.”

Katie added how she’s received “an education” in opening a food establishment which has been “illuminating.”
