Overall, I like the divesity of students at my school, and being able to easily involve in school activities. I wish there were more AP courses offered. I really wanted to take AP Psychology but unfortunately it's nor offered here.
The best part about being at Esperanza is how invested they are in making sure that your experience at the school is amazing. All the different activities that are presented, dances, sporting events, etc. are all things that make this school a great option. The staff and teachers there are very helpful in making sure that your pathway to college is set. The environment is welcoming and friendly in that you will never feel left out. Although there are many good things, there are also some bad parts. I think that one thing that can change is the way we keep our restrooms clean and how we can improve the safety of using these restrooms.
I hope the food in the PYLUSD district can be changed. On multiple accounts I have seen mold on sandwiches and fruits which is completely unacceptable.
My favorite part about Esperanza is undoubtedly the diversity. As an African-American, it was a huge comfort to walk into the school and see people who not only resembled me, but a variety of shades and ethnicities; I didn't feel out of place. We are a small school, I believe we're under 1500 students while neighboring schools total over 3000, yet I feel that we have a stronger sense of school pride since there aren't many of us. However, with all the school's positives, there's still room for improvement. The most prominent problem in my mind is the racism. Walking down the hallway, I hear racial slurs being thrown left and right, sometimes in a joking manner and other times not so much. The slurs are typically directed towards Black and Hispanic students and I can vouch that I have experienced some hate myself. I'm not sure how to fix the problem, but I've reported incidents before and I believe there needs to be more urgency on administration's part to address the racism on campus.
Esperanza High School is a fantastic school overall. They offer a wide variety of programs in order to ensure that students are given the opportunity to excel, such as the medical academy, the video production pathway, engineering, graphic design, choir, and many more! I am personally a part of the video production pathway, and it has been great in preparing me for my future in the film industry. With a genuine emphasis on fostering a supportive community, Esperanza High School prioritizes the physical, emotional, and intellectual welfare of each student. The school cultivates an inclusive and welcoming environment, ensuring that individuals feel valued and supported throughout their educational journey.
Great school with high-level academics. Teachers are kind and care about the students. Overall great school and district.
I think growing up on Disney movies really got my excited to go into High School. You could not imagine my disappointment when no one broke out into song and danced. But in reality, life at Esperanza went smoothly. I achieved so much and it allowed me to explore my intelligence without impacting my life and mental health. Teachers there understand students and see potential in them. They know how to solve conflicts and make teaching fun. It's ironic that in my hardest AP classes, I still miss the atmosphere, the lessons, the funny jokes. I will miss Esperanza because I know there is no other school like it.
Its a big school with lots of people. But it great for our teacher pathway, our medical program, and out engineering program
I had a great experience attending Esperanza High School with some of the most understanding and sympathetic teachers that would push me to reach my full potential.
Great school, great staff. Esperanza cares about the students safety and education, and wants to see you succeed.
I love Esperanza my cousins when here before me and had always told me about the amazing programs here. When I got enrolled I was very excited to try out all the different programs just to find what I enjoyed. I am a senior and I still want to try more of the programs here like the rotc program or the medical academy.
Although we had to attend remotely due to Covid, overall my experience at Esperanza has been great. The students and staff are all kind and easy going. I really enjoy going to school.
High school has been such a rewarding experience for me. Through the caring and passionate staff that Esperanza is equipped with, I feel better prepared for the future. In addition, Esperanza has also allowed me to have a memorable high school experience. Whether it be through clubs or academics, I always felt encouraged to participate and branch out of my norm. Although cut short due to COVID, I felt beyond welcomed my freshman year. I was a shy girl who was able to quickly develop a strong and inclusive personality. I joined Link Crew my sophomore year- a club focused on welcoming the freshman- and was able to reciprocate the love shown towards me. Continuing my journey through high school, I felt fully supported by the Esperanza family. This family included my teachers, counselor and even the janitors. I felt the happiness radiating from everyone who works there. My experience through high school has allowed me to set high standards to attend a welcoming college.
Some teachers seem to not care, the athletic department is going downhill, the administration is doing its best to stay afloat, year after year we lose students to Yorba Linda Highschool. I like the smaller classes and that is it is very close to home.
Campus is slightly above average in my opinion. Some parts are gleeming; others are not. For example, the gym is old and needs renovation such as the installation of an A.C. The theatre room is small, insufficient for maintaining a large crowd. On the other hand, classrooms are great, the library is beautiful, and the fencing is neat. Staff there is a great, and I've had no problems with any staff. They are all caring and responsible. The student body there is average.
I liked Esperanza because of the ABC teacher pathway. It is a unique ROP pathway to Esperanza that really inspired me and inspired me to be a future teacher. The people there are also great despite a few bad apples. Most of the bad teachers retired therefore there are many good teachers. Overall it was a good experience and would recommend family and friends to go to that school.
The teachers were good enough and did their best to be kind. The office, however, never looked into complaints about students doing bad things on school grounds so that wasn't very nice.
