Lisa Respers France CNN.com I have to admit that it was both refreshing and odd to see this side of the socialite. Oct 21, 2020 Full Review Daniel D'Addario Variety This documentary seems so intent on excavating her trauma, up to and including animated re-enactments of her time in purgatorial prep school, that it loses sight of her. Sep 15, 2020 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com This Is Paris isn't apt to change the minds of any Paris Hilton detractors. But as a whole, it stands as a fascinating study of what happens when a human being's personality is entirely subsumed by the construct she creates. Sep 15, 2020 Full Review Rahul Desai Film Companion The documentary makes it evident that while we were busy viewing her as a social experiment, we were the social experiment all along. Oct 8, 2020 Full Review Allie Loukas Battle Royale With Cheese Paris Hilton is an icon. Love her or hate her, Paris spawned an entire generation of pseudo celebrities, and is even credited with inventing the selfie. Oct 5, 2020 Full Review Rich Juzwiak The Muse/Jezebel I'll give her this: The utter audacity of releasing something so invested in reexamining Paris Hilton's legacy in 2020 is utterly astonishing. Gabriel M Genuine, raw, fresh and real. Not all that glitters is gold. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review Helen D It was so interesting to see a different and the real side of the superstar that is Paris Hilton. I was absolutely gripped by her story and her truth Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Youtube presents another one of their celebrity movie documentaries this time opening up the real story about one of the longest talked about people, Paris Hilton this is the genuine and unfiltered truth about the TV/fashion model for so many years she's been living in the spotlight making success in TV, commercials and fashion brands, having Marylin Monroe for her grandmother, and even accidentally getting noticed from a sex scandal yet underneath it all is a facade she's been putting on display she's been so engraved in the pop culture with becoming an entrepreneur and a businesswoman and constantly travels but now she has a chance to come clean about what's been going on deep inside, it's the most personal and painful thing to talk about for her the famous status has been a way for her to hide the painful trauma that has plagued her since her childhood the thing is nobody really knows who she is like with any celebrity but this film gives Paris and her fans to understand why she is the way she is her family was conservative, she grew up in a rich lifestyle with her grandfather building hotels, although it was a lot of pressure to live up to their expectations, she also went to a Catholic school as a kid raised by her mother to believe in perfection, yet as a teenager in high school she faced a lot of bullying from the NY social elite resorting to party life, and she was forced to go to emotional growth programs that felt like her own personal hell still she even grew up as a big animal lover, became the first social media influencer, and thanks to her celebrity status others like Kim Kardashian wouldn't be noticed by the paparazzi these days despite all the fame and success she has insomnia because the nightmares of what happened to her are too much for her, she also has trust issues given that she's been mistreated over and over again by many men whenever something would happen like private tapes getting leaked to the public they would treat her as the bad guy saying it was her fault it's hard enough for her own sister to tell it like it actually is with her saying Paris is greedy, has everyone bend to her will, having to be tough on her because she feels she has to be with trauma the mind may forget but the body never forgets, the horrors of our past can come back to haunt us in more ways than one, a person can only take so much when control can control their life, people block out horrible stuff all the time, even our parents can be so good at sweeping things under the rug, all the resentment we feel stems from something bad, we can live free in our minds and free in our hearts, no one should ever have to be punished for expressing their feelings overall out of everything that's happened Paris has become more stronger and more wary of letting people in too easily, finally opening up to her mother, she's become more independent as well as self-reliant, and now she's started a therapy help group advocating aid to others like her raising awareness to stop any future victims from facing the same fate she did this documentary is heartbreaking, raw, unveiling, terrifying but at the same time really crucial in understanding how a celebrity has to deal with so much on her plate professionally, emotionally, psychologically, and mentally a new portrait of Paris Hilton is shown and hopefully it'll reach out to many others that have gone through the same horrific experiences she did success and fame is one thing but learning to face being trapped is another Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/08/22 Full Review Audience Member It's interesting but you can't help think that the parents raised a spoiled brat than sent her away because they didn't like what they created. I wish Paris healing & the bullying she went through was probably awful but this good PR isn't entirely believable. I'm glad to see a more human side to Paris. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It's incredible to discover how Paris Hilton managed to mask her trauma all these years. I think it's the first time I listen to her speaking "normally", not like the character she has created over the years. Trauma is trauma, and this is the perfect example that not even having all the money in the world is enough to cover up the wounds. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary is SO INTENSE & EYE OPENING!! Bravo to Paris for allowing us in so we can all see how beautifully HUMAN she is!!!! Bravo to the director Alexandra Dean !! From start to finish, I was hooked. From all the horrors Paris went through to becoming so famous and yet through all of it, she was fighting demons!!!! This documentary needs to be seen by ALL!!! The icon that Paris is creates a safe space for any other victims to come forward!!! #breakingcodesilence Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
