A white woman singing the blues is not that current.
The whole of it is rather good. She's got the power and the necessary wildness for that genre of music."Shake Your Hips" is one of the best tracks here.
There are good musicians in her band behind like Jimmie Vaughan on guitar and Kim Wilson on harmonica who used to play together in The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
The sax solos are pleasant too (the ballad "It's Raining").
However, I don't like the 80s digital production here which gives a too clinic sound for that kind of music. The sound of the drums is particularly rubbish with its artificial and reverberated sound. So this blues music lacks of warmth.

All the sass of Wanda Jackson, backed up by some of Austin's best session musicians, Lou Ann Barton is not to be missed. There's only a couple of her albums out there, but if you get the chance you should grab 'em. She got her start as the lead singer in Stevie Ray Vaughn's band in Austin before he hit it big with Double Trouble. She's got a 30 megaton voice and legs that just won't quit. This album has plenty of roadhouse favorites, and down home blues and every cut is a good one. She should have been huge, but I understand she's been in a constant fight with her demons. Here's hoping that battle was won, or will be some day, and we will be treated to more fireworks from this incredible singer!
