Inside The Edward Scissorhands House

Edward Scissorhands is a Tim Burton movie, starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. It was released in 1990, and features Depp as Edward, a man who was created by an old inventor. While creating Edward, he gives him scissors for hands, but sadly passes away before Edward can become fully humanized. After the passing of his creator, Edward goes to live with Peg Boggs and her family, where he meets Peg’s daughter Kim, portrayed by Winona Ryder. The two fall in love, and Edward’s uniqueness changes the suburban community for the better, while also unwittingly making enemies. The movie was an instant hit, and still a favorite to this day. It was beautifully shot, and stylized in typical Tim Burton fashion. The Boggs’ home where Edward goes to live was so identifiable, for the crazy sculpted bushes in the front yard, to the fountain. The iconic Edward Scissorhands house is located in Lutz, FL, and is currently on the market for nearly $500,000. It features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, spread out over 1,432 sq ft of space. The home was originally built in 1989, one year before the movie was released. In 2020 the home was purchased by Joey and Sharon Licalzi for $230,000 and was decorated much like the movie. The owners even gave free tours to fans who wanted to come in and get a glimpse, and feel like they're in the movie. With the home on the market now, I wonder if potential new buyers will completely change the aesthetic, or keep paying homage to the famous film.

Complete Makeover

Since the home has been on the market recently, the exterior underwent a complete, neutral makeover. The blue paint was painted an earth tone and the crazy style lawn decor has been replaced with, well, nothing but normal landscaping. From the outside, I can only imagine that the interior is also redone to a more neutral aesthetic.

One thing that remains the same is the beautiful full tree out front. The home sits on a corner lot with a brown fence surrounding the perimeter of the backyard.

Take a look at the interior of this home, how it was with the previous owners at least. It's a shrine to the movie, with pictures on the walls, cardboard character cut outs, even the wallpaper is the same.

In this video, you get an updated look at the interior. It has been completely stripped down and neutral, so that the new owners can make it their own. Vaulted ceilings, tile floors, light oak cabinets, and a nice fence in the backyard are just some of the features currently in this home.
